Why don't your KTBH have queen excluder?,,,
@BeesforDevelopment2 ай бұрын
While it is possible to have queen excluders in Top-bar hives it is not necessary and is an added cost for each hive. As with frame hives it is a matter of preference. In many remote places it is difficult to obtain materials of the precise measurements that are needed for a queen excluder making them expensive to buy and very time consuming to make. In a Top-bar hive there is also less of a need for a queen excluder. in a vertically managed hive, when a queen starts laying in the honey super, she will mimic the pattern of the brood chamber and lay across multiple frames at the same time. In a horizontally managed hive, a queen will simply expand the brood area by laying on the adjacent frames to expand the brood area. This is easily compensated for by moving the following board back and giving the bees more Top bars for honey storage.

@BeesforDevelopment Жыл бұрын
Thank you for your comment. Timing of honey bee swarming depends on many factors and varies by location and climate. The best way to learn about swarming in your area is to speak with local beekeepers who will know best about the patterns of local bees.
