This is outstanding. I’m a noob to lighting. If I’m honest I really struggle to understand it and have trouble achieving some of the shots I’d like. This really felt like I l could follow the thought process around building the shot and how the lighting is motivated. I’ll be going right through your library now. Haha. This is 🔥 thank you for sharing. 😊

good vid. some nice lighting. one thing you could consider more is your eyelines, screen direction, and camera blocking to create more cohesive coverage. some of the shots feel a little disconnected or jarring because of those nuances.
@MattAitia5 ай бұрын
Yes definitely! Glad someone noticed because it was something that was bugging me while editing. It was partially due to filming the BTS and security around us. Good thing is, these are exercises where I also learn a bunch of stuff as well
@scon14255 ай бұрын
That’s awesome brother! The images turned out great. U have a great eye and great taste. The diff between something beautiful and something overlit or sourcey in these situations is usually a foot either direction or a couple percent on the dials. Really nice final products. And the only way to learn is to shoot 👍

Love these processes you show Matt, some beautiful frames! Quick question: i get so much anxiety shooting out in the rain/snow - how do you figure out the "right amount of weather" that a camera/light/etc. can withstand?
@MattAitia6 ай бұрын
Thank you! Most lights have an IP waterproof rating that you can check. This was a light snowfall so I wasn’t too concerned with camera or lighting, if it were coming down any harder we would have bagged the equipment with cheap clear garbage bags. Just make sure to leave some sort of ventilation so things don’t overheat

beginner filmaker here, could I ask what you guys mean by "the lighting is more motivated?" Thanks in advance otherwise great video, learned quite a lot.
@MattAitia6 ай бұрын
Motivated lighting is when you imitate or extenuate an existing light source. So in the video our lighting was motivated by the street light and "the moon". In the other scene our lighting was motivated by the yellow bagel sign and the pink donut sign. Does that make sense?
@theratingguy56596 ай бұрын
