I was in Prague last year on a stag do and a girl tried to do that to one of my friends. But she did not know he had a bell on his wallet that jingled when she tried getting it so that caught her out. So we threatened to call the police then these 2 huge guys started walking across to us so that was time for us to leave since we had the wallet back.

When travelling through europe in the early eighties by myself, I learned and I still do this to this day, to keep my wallet in my front pocket...with my passport as well when travelling. I always keep my hand in my pocket next to my wallet, strangers will try to get u to give them a hug, somehow to get your hand out of your pocket..always walk away from overly friendly tourists, women, men, locals ect..dont accept drinks from strangers, do leave it un attended, dont turn your head in a bar ..
