I’ve been doing solar for the past year and a half. In Florida we mostly do the PPA option where the homeowner doesn’t take out a loan but instead leases the panels. It’s a huge help to people who can’t afford to pay the rising increases or just want to save money in general. Everyone’s situation is different, it’s up to the salesman to make sure you’re taken care of.

It's funny how you skipped the part that the homeowner does not get the tax credit, the installer does, more money towards their coffers, not the homeowner.

WTF ! why not these sales contracts include a clause about free sales and financing terms . This is a day light robbery

Sunnova and Fusion Power in the Houston area, did the same thing to me. Complete sham, you will not save any money, you will have another 30 year loan on your house and they can put a lien on your house at any time you don’t pay their monthly bill. Do not answer the door when they come knocking, especially in new developments.

This looks like a classic case of the rep just didn’t explain the situation properly. There are PPA programs where people don’t have to spend any of their own money and their bills reduced by 30 to 40%. I see this every day so I know it works. All the news stations and utility companies seem to work together to make it seem like Solar is a horrible thing when in fact, it’s the thing that’s going to save you. Here in SoCal so CAL Edison’s rates doubled every five years. How is that saving money? On all the contracts we have at my company you can cancel all the way up until the day the panels go on the roof which is usually about two months. They don’t talk about how all the electricity’s in California is brought in from outside of the state they buy it for $.10 in the sell test for $.40-$.60 depending on what time of the day it is. Sounds like a case of poor communication skills, which is sad for this poor Homeowner . They probably just didn’t turn the panels on yet. I’d be curious to see how she’s doing now.

That’s why you research the company you’re talking to 😂

As an electrician who has been involved with solar for over 35 years. I installed solar on my house which pays 100% of my electrical usage. So it can be a good investment. The bigg est problem I have seen isnthe solar installars say base the paybackk on electrical costs increase by 10% a year. Check your bills over as back as far as you can to see if that is true. Im MT it is not true. I genreate 100% of my electrical with a payback less than 5 years. Make them put in writing a guarantee payback term. If they can’t or won’t do that go with someone one who will. There are a lot of good/ legitimate solar companies out there. Make sure you find the right one. Too many of them are scams.

Everyone will have solar in the future, of course people scam out there but not every solar company is a scam.

That’s like saying I brought a fully electric car and didn’t save any money on gas… That’s impossible In other words in brought an electric car and it doesn’t work so I still have to pay for gas using my other car… That’s actually what’s their saying, it’s impossible to “not save money” maybe the panels having been turned on because the city hasn’t approved which getting approved takes 4-6 months in some cases so it’s most likely the company did a poor job communicating nobody returned her calls so when 4 months passed and her panels were turned on because the city she just jumped to assumption and said it doesn’t save her any money… unfortunately she went with a poor company, but Im sure once the city approved everything and the panels actually got turned on she started saving money

These companies don't care if the solar panels are quality. They're there to make a sale and collect money. They rebrand and change the name but the higher-ups are always the same people. I used to be a cold caller and made bank circa 2015-2018. I'd just set appointments. In my time there I'd make like 800 to 900 a week setting appointments even though we didn't make sales. Point being they sell you junk and you sign on to buy it.

If you don’t like the salesperson that comes to your door, but are still interested in solar, go straight to a solar company. Look at the reviews and APRs. They aren’t all scams and shams.

Pay attention to the Solar companies you use. SOLAR WORKS, It's just a matter of understanding of how solar work and what company your using.

I don't know this lady or her husband, but come on... I bet all of those details were explained to her and she simply didn't understand or remember. It is possible that the people she dealt with were total crooks, but that's not very likely.

Not interested in solar panels. They’re ugly and are maintenance heavy. At least the ones that were on AB for the neon signs. If they’re not clean and debris free they’re not as efficient. Also they don’t really hold up well in high winds and hail. That was my experience
