Great video! Very clear and to the point 😁 I was shopping on Etsy for patterns and was shocked by the amount of AI generated images, it was so disappointing to see

Yeah, it's really sad because a lot of them are stolen sewing patterns from other creators. 😔

Thank you!!! I’ve been feeling off about Etsy patterns recently. After I brought two bad patterns last year. I feel validated and will use your advice to better navigate the website!

You are so welcome! Etsy can be great in so many ways (I LOVE having my patterns there)... it's just kind of a weird time on there right now! So, I'm happy to hear this was helpful to you.

oh my goodness this video is so useful. I'm not always that quick on the uptake of what's happening in the real world so not aware of how much AI is already out there. However, I was looking at a picture of a gorgeous dress and went to check out the line drawings and was miffed about the difference between the two.. now that you've explained it, it makes sense! Thanks so much, no one is going to fool me ;D

I don't even see that many AI images but I spot them every time. I do think some Etsy shops may actually be mass produced patterns. Basically a very resourceful person maybe hiring and out sourcing everything. Like those images you showed, I don't remember the name of the shop but the images don't seem to be AI generated. But the fact that they have many different models and backgrounds makes me think that they just out source everything and hire models for a photo shoot.

I talk about two tips - stolen images and AI patterns. So yes, some of them are not AI generated! But I see a lot of shops that straight up steal their photos from online retail stores.

It’s SO FRUSTRATING seeing Etsy turn into another platform that exacerbates this AI/stolen product/drop shipping issue that’s so prevalent online. It’s ironic and sad, because Etsy was created to support individuals and small businesses. I wish people would get smarter about stuff like this. There’s so many warning signs! For me, it’s always the price. If the pattern is under $5, there’s no way a real person put any time into it

Well, I do have a pattern that's under $5, and I'm a real person who did put time into it BUT I get your point!! 😂

I would also add: if you go to the shop front and they've published hundreds of patterns despite only being active for about a year, its definitely AI or stolen. Actual legit independent designers cannot physically pump out quality patterns that fast. I was absolutely shocked by how overran with AI generated garbage the sewing patterns section is on Etsy these days, and like, noone really seems to be talking about it. So thank you for making this video. It's concerning is how many people cant seem to be able identify AI patterns. and Its really depressing seeing these AI scam shops will 10s of thousands of sales despite only being around a year or less, while actual hard working independent designers only have a few hundred sales over 5+ years. Although that could be the AI shops using bots to artificially inflate their sales numbers to push them up the search results page.

Is there anything that AI isn't ruining now?? I'm so tired of this. Etsy needs to ban some of these products but they won't b/c they make a lot of money from them too.

😂 AI has a time and a place! But def not on Etsy, especially if the photos are inaccurate. 😩 Good point too.
