Kal, I can’t find many videos on KZbin that show the actual set up of the weight and lure: Lengths between weight and main line (height from bottom of river), length of line from weight to kwikfish, what size weight you want depending on conditions, and generally what kind of water you are looking for in the river (inside or outside of bends in the river, desired water depth, etc). It would be really cool if you could make a video for us on this.

Luckily I get opportunities to fish the ocean for fresh and bright salmon. I love catching them in the river, too, but that brief clip of the fish being filleted was a great example of fish that’s been in the river a while. It’s a crap shoot as to the quality of the meat on the fish, but they sure pull hard!

Yeah...I generally limit my salmon fishing to the delta area. I definitely stay below Sacramento because, as you stated, the fish get stale. I know someone who fishes the Mokelumne River near Elk Grove. He told me the salmon aren't fresh in his area. I wonder what the typical fish quality would be 200 miles north in the Redding area? Maybe some salmon are able to tolerate the trip better than others? No matter, they are fun to catch.
