For centuries, gingerbread has traditionally been baked for Christmas. Whether as a gingerbread man or a witch's cottage: The brown gingerbread can be designed in many ways. In the past, the makers of gingerbread belonged to a different craft than the other bakers; they called themselves Lebküchler, Pfefferküchler, Lebzelter, Lebküchner - expressions still used today by bakers who specialize in gingerbread. In his glass bakery, master baker Claus Becker from Edenkoben shows step by step how a delicious gingerbread is baked from a so-called "storage dough" without leavening agents, using only flour and honey. In keeping with the season, the gingerbread is decorated for Christmas.
