How to balance a micro EDF!

Get the shake out of your fan! Follow this simple video tutorial on how to balance a micro ducted fan unit. A balanced fan will give you more thrust, draws less amps and causes less wear to the bearings.
Tools needed are: Electrical tape, an exacto knife, tweezers and a pin drill fitted with a 1mm drill bit!

I only do it if the fan sounds noisy or I can feel it vibrating in the model. When I build my fan units - balancing is a must. ;-)

there's an app for that. it will even give you exact numbers for the vibration :)

Good Tute. Thanks. Is that a 35mm fan for your Skyangel ? Which motors do you use ? From where ? Instead of an eyepiece you can buy a $2.50 pair of 4X (or whatever suits your eyes to behave like a microscope lol) reading glasses at the cheap Chinese Junk shop.

Can u just leave the tape on? After u CA'd the tape, i thought u were done. Wrong ! Then u drilled. Doesn't drilling weaken it? Is there much difference in leaving the tape and taking off the tape and drilling. What if there is not a blade directly across from the taped blade to drill on. A blade in the middle of two blades?
