A concert recording has output from a separate XY pair with the camera audio synchronised and mixed in at -10dB to add a bit of room ambience. Is there a way to apply gain keyframes to the stereo out bus, and not to individual tracks? This is easy in DAW software but I haven't yet found a solution in Shotcut.
@joe_cullen Жыл бұрын
Hey, as far as I know there is no direct way to do what you are asking in Shotcut. You would need to import both audio tracks seperately, then align them in Shotcut and adjust the volumes accordingly. If it has all been recorded on one channel and mixed before it goes into Shotcut, then Im not aware of any way to work with them individually. Personally, If I was doing this I'd sort the sound in another program then import the final audio into Shotcut, then align to the video.
@mrt3870 Жыл бұрын
@@joe_cullen Much obliged to you for your reply, Mr Cullen. I was trying avoid having to import both the camera audio and Zoom H8 audio into Cubase for mixing; but it's not that much more work.

Do you know if there is any way to get the audio on a track to all be at the same level or do you have to change the volume manually?
@joe_cullen2 жыл бұрын
Hi, you can apply the Gain filter to the entire track (A1, V1, etc.) To do this simply select the track where its name is, when it has a red box around it then add a filter in the standard way. This will apply the filter to EVERYTHING on the track. So if you want to bump your entire audio up or down, this is a good way to do it. But if you need some up and some down you would need to put them on seperate tracks, or apply gain to each clip manually.

Bro is it possible to add image to the video in this app? I mean i want to add image in the very begining with fade transition effect and next i want to add a text with another transition effect. Im making a video in Shotcut right now, but could not pick the method yet. Thanks you for this tutorial.
@joe_cullen2 жыл бұрын
Hi, Yes, you can add images and transition them with video. There are 2 options: 1. You can do it all on 1 track: Cut the video where you want the image, insert the image, overlap the clips to create the fade transition 2. You can also overlay the image (have it on a seperate video track) then add the 'Fade Video In' and 'Fade Video Out' filters to the image. This way the video and audio will still play, but you will be looking at the image. This video explains adding images: kzbin.info/www/bejne/poWTkqSqidmCqdU And... I advise using Text on its own Track, so you can manouver it better - this video may help: kzbin.info/www/bejne/a4ndoJyBfM9kgLM Let me know if I can help any further.

What should the target db level be for uploading to KZbin? I'm seeing some people say up to -3 and others saying -12. -12 sounds very quiet to me
@joe_cullen3 жыл бұрын
Hi Daniel, it is relative to the original recording. Although Shotcut will tell you its a certain volume, it depends on things like how far away from the microphone you were standing, or if you use software with filters (like OBS for screen recording) or hardware settings (like camera audio filters) to make any adjustments before it goes into Shotcut. The very best way to balance your audio is by your own ear, using desktop speakers (if possible). Set your speakers to the levels you like and play a few videos already on KZbin - use a couple of examples so you dont measure against a poor audio. Then make sure your video sounds roughly the same in Shotcut. I used to do this, but now I know the setup I need in Shotcut - so you will quickly learn your own settings! Hope this helps :)

But what if you want to keep both audios overlapping but only one of them is lowed down gradually? ( not a fade out)
@joe_cullen2 жыл бұрын
Hi, best way to achieve this is use 2 audio layers, keep the first one as normal, and lower the 2nd channel as you need.

the way to adjust audio is so dumb in that software, i mean, cant it just be a option to do that directly to the clip without adding any effect or stuff? who came up with that idea?
@joe_cullen Жыл бұрын
the 'filter' is how everything is done in Shotcut. It can be annoying, but when you get used to applying anything in that way, it does become quite fast and makes it simple to use. However, not overly intuitive if you're used to other video editors!
