This was by far the simplest yet so effective to learning how to balance a gimbal. I have been looking for months and glad I found this video. Thank you!

Any chance I can zoom with someone for help? I'm literally verbatim copying every single instruction given in these balancing videos yet I can't get it to the place where it will stay wherever I move it. Seems like no matter what lens I'm using, it still will lean too much on way or the other but I can't adjust any further. I'm using an 800D canon.

Well explained but to be honest my experience is it doesn´t need that perfect balance at all. At least not as long as you are far away from its max payload. My Canon 80 D with battery grip and a Sigma lens is about 1,9 Kg which is not a light camera. But even if I do not balance it perfectly or I change the focal length of the lens without changing the balance setting, it works without any issue because the Crane 2 has that much power. And that´s why I love it.

DER PRiNZ - Photography he said the reason to make sure it’s balanced properly is because if it’s not it will put more strain on the motor. You might still get great footage, but at 600 bucks, I wouldn’t want the motor to give out prematurely.

yes i agree, nice and concise, and a good tip at the end to keep note of what settings used for different lenses on initial set up, i would recommend having 2 or 3 sets of rechargeables if doing a wedding or sports event because 3 power hungry stepper motors are involved, what not is mentioned is the fact zoom lenses would be useless in the sense the point of gravity would be upset even if the zoom not used, simply because if the zoom level gets out of kilter inadvertently then it goes awry, i am getting my pennies saved to buy this gimbal but also saving for at least one prime lens perhaps two [ have 3 lenses and good ones too; but are all zoom] , i'm primary a stills photographer but have dabbled in the past with video,must reinvent my skills in premiere and after effects, but i so love boys toys, i wish now i didn't buy the neewer 7inch monitorand instead went for the 5 inch one cos of weight,

In a lot of the videos I saw, everyone says that the gimbal should hold its position to wherever u angle it once it's balanced. In my roll axis, the gimbal always levels back to horizontal. Is that a problem?

I followed every step of the way in this video. However, when I turned on my motor, I moved the gimbal left and right and the camera would lose focus on the subject. The axis would turn the camera the opposite direction from the initial direction. Please advise.

I notice he never mentions/shows the camera holding its position on the roll axis after it's balanced. Should that position hold as well? Or should it simply stay level and only the pan/tilt hold camera position when balanced.

I'm trying to balance my Zhiyun Crane 2 with a 5D Mark III and a 24-105 lens. I did exactly how he explains in the video but my camera doesn't hold in the same position I put it. If I put the camera facing up or facing down, it's ok, it stays in that position. But when I put the camea in a diagonal position, it came back where it was. I don't know why, what am I doing wrong?

Thanks, very clear! I am using plates from Really Right Stuff on my camera's to attach it to my tripod for photography (arca swiss style). This is very popular among professionals (also Wimberley plates do fit my tripod head). I cannot change plates for video with the crane. Can i also use these plates or L-bracket on the Zhiyun crane? I read that the crane uses manfrotto plates? I dont use them.

Hey man, thanks for your video. I balanced my gimbal with an gh5 and sigma 18-35. A pretty heavy setup but should be working fine. I balanced it on 18mm. Also when gimbal turned on there is no sound of the motors. But when i look back my test footage i have alot of micro jitters and my footage bounces up and down a bit ( but thats my walking maybe.) Do you know what could cause this micro jitter?

@thevisualexperience55686 жыл бұрын
Svend Even Hærra FS5 only body is 827.8 gr, with 18-105 zoom, battery, lcd viewfinder, handle and lens hood it's around 2.25 Kg so it should work... The only thing i'm worried about is that the camera is pretty long. Max payload is 3.2 Kg for the Zhiyun 2 :-)

Hi Evan, I've purchased the crane 2 and I am using a 6D 24-105 lens. I have followed your set up and the camera seems balanced (holds in any position) but when I power up if I learn the gimbal to the left of right it freaks out and turns the camera. People seem to be able to single left and right and the camera stays in position. Thats not happening for me, any advice? Best Dan

Hi Adam. Your tutorial is very good but I think I've got a problem. I'm trying to balance my gimbal for Nikon D5300 with a Sigma 10-20 f/3.5 DC lens. Everything fine, the camera would stay still in any position, but same as in your video here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/eIOso42qYq6gaLc is touching the arm. Is this ok? I've never used a gimbal by now. Thanks.

I'm trying to balance my new crane with my sony a7sii and 35mm 1.4 lens but when I point the camera down to do the first adjustment, the lens is too long and it can't clear the bottom motor. How can I adjust it to get this right!?!? I've been messing with this thing for HOURS. And I accidentally hit the power button mid adjustment - hoping I haven't ruined the whole thing!

it's v2. should i just point it up instead of down to balance? Also my computer doesn't seem to register the gimbal is connected while I'm trying to update firmware. so frustrated!

Hey Courtney, I've just bought the Crane Plus (basically the new version of the V2). Just curious... did you ever sort your balancing problem out? I'm using the exactly the same camera lens combo (a7sii + sony 35mm 1.4) and I can only ever get the camera to balance still in one axis at a time. Rather frustrating !
