I learned the precautions with bathing your horse the hard way 😊 I got my first horse this past August, had him shipped up to MA from FL and on his second day I "attempted" to give him a bath...he pulled me all around the back yard like I was water skiing on land 😬 I should also mention I am new to the equestrian world, he is my first horse, and he is a big paint (16 hands). I have learned so much from your videos and really appreciate your guidance and knowledge. I am working with a local trainer also.

Yes! Horse lessons are always fun and remember to always listen to your instructor. Unless you’re scared to do something you can work up to that way you won’t be scared and just always listen. Had some kids at our barn and they didn’t listen and our miniature almost had access to the gain because they were messing up our feed. And our miniature could’ve died since HES on a strict diet so always listen!!!

⚠️To anyone getting a horse or who wants a horse and are beginners!!⚠️ Green riders and green horses make black and blue. You can’t have unrealistic expectations for a horse. If you genuinely want a horse and think you have experience work with a friend or family member who owns horses!! Or even go to stables and ask to help with stable chores, You’ll see if you’re actually ready to own your own horse or if you just think their pretty animals. I’ve been around horses since the first time I could walk and I still didn’t get my own horse or even Minnie until I was 14. Thats because I wasn’t ready! It’s ok to admit you’re not ready for a horse. I knew how to ride etc but I didn’t even get my own horse until I knew I was ready to do so much barn chores in every kind of weather. I got my first horse and knew it wasn’t gonna go well since I always say. Green rider green horse black and blue. I do have experience with horses and barn animals yet I still refer to call myself a green rider. Yo I don’t need a shire, yo I don’t need a Arabian. Just a little broke experienced horse will do just fine! Don’t get a horse unless you’re absolutely ready. And don’t have unrealistic expectations of which horse you want you aren’t getting a black stallion either. Thank you.

Very helpful, thanks! However, my problem is that there's no wash rack in my barn. I have water available outside in the muddy paddock or grassy pasture areas, neither of which have worked well for me for obvious reasons. My horse's stall has no drain but I'm thinking of trying to bathe him there because it's 12x15 with cross ties, and mats on the floor, with a window and a doorway to the outside. After bathing him, I'm going to try to squeegee the water (on the floor) out through that doorway, and turn on fans to dry the mats before putting bedding down again. (The mats are covering bare ground, so there may be a little drainage.) It's a lot of water, so I hope it works! I'm just afraid that after all that hard work, he's just going to go out and roll in the sand! 😟
@CarmellaAbel4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your support, Jacquelyn! I used to board at a barn with no wash stall. Instead, we made a bathing area outside by putting up a post to tie the horse to and putting down blue stone on the ground. It worked great! Best of luck!
