Tips: 1. Learn to empathize. It takes a people person to empathize with someone. Empathy is when you put yourself in their shoes. You feel what they feel from their perspective. 2. Avoid robot responses. Give a little more substance when answering questions and be honest. Try and be relatable. When someone asks “how are you?” You can tell them the truth and go into some depth. This will make you relatable. Just remember to be honest and try to put a positive spin on it. 3. Ask, don’t tell. Don’t sell yourself by telling people about yourself. Ask people about themselves and they’ll want to be around you. 4. Be quiet and listen. You need to be present when you’re listening to people speak. Don’t think about what you’re going to say next when you’re listening. Just be present and listen. Stay in the moment. You need to get this down if you want to be a people person. Reflect back the emotion. 5. Watch your tone. Your tone is SO important for conveying meaning. Your tone conveys just as much information as what you say. The number one thing we can do is practice self-awareness. Try and spend more time with someone who is a people person. Great video. Thank you!

I left my 32 year nursing career in 2019. Good communication skills and really listening to people actually won me awards for customer service…my patients loved me and I was confident in that role. Coming out of the pandemic, I feel like I somehow lost my people skills. I have to catch myself in moments when I don’t feel like I’m being a good listener anymore and I have to stop myself from interrupting people. The social isolation left me just wanting to talk to anyone that will listen 😂 You are so right about this ability being a muscle. I’m “toning up” now by watching your videos. Thanks for putting these out here.

I love how you summed up all the tips with the idea of "leave people better than you found them." I intend to keep that in my mind. Have you known anyone who makes every person who they know feel as if they are the most important person to them? I have a friend who is just that way. As an example, I noticed when I arrived at her home for a party, she greeted me as if she had been waiting for me, especially, to arrive. I felt so welcome and special. As I mingled, I noticed she greeted each guest in that same way. Anytime I see her, even by chance out shopping, etc., she makes me feel that I made HER day. Needless to say, she is well loved by many people.

I'm very introverted . And these steps are very helpful. I've been told I come off stuck up do to my robot responses. But in fact I desire to have more people skills. I just get anxious I'm hard on my self. I feel like I'll sound dumb. You have a new subcriber.

I work with a large group of people in a stressful environment (nurse in ER). I have always been a people person, but the environment brings out the very worst in people. I go through my day trying to remain positive but there are so many people who are negative,it can be hard to remain positive. I try to walk away when someone goes off but I have to remain in the environment. I find myself losing control of my temper. I have yelled in situation that people are pushing so hard. I really want to be a classy person. I enjoy your videos, I hope I can learn to always stay in control even when everything is out of control around me.

Hi Ms. Tracy! You are so beautiful and just amazing! I'm so happy to have found you. Thank you so much for making videos that women of all ages need. I am an introvert :\ I don't enjoy being around people, I think mainly because I take on too much and see people as added work/stress. I am empathetic and naturally do many of the things you teach but I struggle with stress and depression. My husband on the other hand LOVES to be around people. I have only watched three of your videos so far but I'm learning much already and look forward to learning more from you. "Ownership" is a huge goal for me this year. I think you are a Godsend. Thank you so much! I was always wondering how I can make my mother feel better whenever we have a conversation. The listening part is easy... but I love your tip on reflecting back the emotion of the person! I think that is what I am definitely missing. Most times I am left figuring what my mother feels, and I when I do I don't really reflect that back.

Hi Tracy, I have found myself at times, interrupting people. My husband especially! I’ve been working more on listening. As a child I’ve picked up on this habit from my Aunt. She only listens to what she what’s to hear! The rest of the time it’s all about her. I didn’t want to be that person. So now I listen more and talk less! It works! Thanks Tracy!❤️😀

What I have learned when working with the public is: 1: Smile ( It must show in your presence and body language ). 2: I have heard the opposite when it comes to people wanting to talk about themselves. If they are in the entertainment industry or have a esteemed career or went to Ivy League college yes they might speak about themselves. With the average Joe or Jane it is a toss up. 3: You have to be interested in other people than yourself.

Great points; every one of them!! I used to be the person in the room whose conversation volume was too loud. I had no idea until someone told me. Lol. I'm furious at youtube for demonetizing and de-platforming some of the conservative channels on here but I'm smart enough to know not throw the baby out with the bathwater. I'm not going to let that wrongful activity get in the way of the channels I love, like this one, that luckily aren't a victim of the unfair and unwarranted censorship.

Thank you for this excellent video. I think you should teach a course like this to junior high school students. It would be a great way to help them develop these valuable people skills going forward into life. This information will benefit them in school, in their first jobs, in all their relationships and conversations with peers, family members and in all social situations. Unfortunately today, society can be very "all about me" and your approach enourages them to communicate in a positive, inclusive manner.

I just watched it and it was so wonderfully in line with hormonal teenage girls! Think of WHY they are acting as such... offer them the tools to manage what they feel. Help them be more thick skinned so they feel less dramatic about the bad and more dramatic about the good. Maybe? 💜 much love mamas. 💜

I understand what you mean about being relatable and sticking with your story of forgetting the present and having to turn around and get it in the hopes this next person will say it happened to me, I get it, I hate when that happens but then you might get the I'm better than you look, the yes dear, I'm glad you've got all your eggs in one basket. Being relatable doesn't work with high maintenance and judgemental people it only casts judgment on your capabilities the, 'oh dear, she forgot the present some people are just not organised enough.' I'm not saying we shouldn't be relatable authentic people but even I know around certain fine people who have exquisite tastes they hold a lot of judgement on others who are not like themselves so I probably wouldn't admit that straight off the bat but I know the type of people I can be my authentic relatable self with and for me, in my experience thats the key. The more refined a person is they hold you up to a certain standard it makes you feel a little bit more inclined towards making a good first impression whereas if you go on a date with someone rough around the edges you're introduced to their world, maybe they're not refined enough but it is a well known fact that they are less likely to judge, critice and shame you if you don't get it right.

It depends on the context. I can not tell you what is wrong with you, if anything. We could certainly work on that through coaching.

Thank you, Tracy. One thing I recently heard is that people may forget what you say, but they will not forget how you made them feel. I thought that was eye opening, too. Love your channel and always look forward to seeing your posts. Be blessed...
