We have a strong faith in God and trust that He will bring us through difficult times, of which we have had many. Thanks for your "Pollyanna" spirit, it is always encouraging❤

Forgive me Jennifer for the lengthy post.i have so much to say. When I was about 11 or 12 one of the ministers where my mom went to worship gave me a VHS tape. He told me that this movie reminded him of me and this is what he sees in me. It was the movie Pollyanna. I grew up rather rough but I never liked it. I was picked on because I lacked the roughness. I can't figure out what he saw in me but nonetheless, he did see something. It took me a rather long time to understand why he said that to me. I just loved the movie but I never saw myself. Now, in my 40s people tell me I'm a Doris Day, Pollyanna sort of a person. Althoug, I still don't see it fully in myself, I'll accept that it's there because many different people across all walks of life have said this to me. I think it's a good way to live, think and be. It's beautiful. My minister recently told me that I have a pure heart and it's readily seen in the congregation and many have made comments about it. I wasn't a child who heard nice things about myself so it's hard even know to accept this. I will accept it. Hearing this video just affirmed it more Jennifer. I'm Pollyanna too❤😘🌷🤗

Jennifer, I'd like to ask a favor. Our area of Florida, Pinellas county, Clearwater, was hit by a massive storm and flooded our mobile home. We live in a high zone where flooding should not occur, but it did. Our AC wont work, we've lost nearly everything overnight. There were cars floating down our streets last night. We are truly devastated. We just had to put our little dog to sleep a few days ago and are overwhelmed. Hopefully, FEMA will get here. Would you and your viewers pray for all of us? Beautiful video, Jennifer!! ❤ Romans 8:28 is one of my favorites. I have seen God work good from bad time and time again!! Of course, we will still have our struggles and disappointments (sometimes ongoing, ha!!), but like Joseph, after 7 years of wrongful imprisonment, we have to trust in God’s plan 100%. Jennifer, I fell in love with reading in 6th grade at a small mtn school which had 2 grades in one classroom. In the corner beside a chalkboard was a narrow, ceiling to floor bookshelf. On that shelf were old books including the Pollyanna, Nancy Drew, Hardy Boy mysteries..for the 1st time I was lucky enough to have my own room...this was in an old farmhouse with narrow staircase and 2 small bedrooms in the peak of the roofline...I would stay awake til 2, 3 in the morning reading these books. Importantly this was the schoolyard following death of my father in a hiway farm accident...s the oldest of 4 children, I also watched my mother work and display an ethic for life that was beautiful.. She never took $$ from Health and Welfare, many times two jobs within a 24 hr time.. I feel Pollyanna books were a great help to me at this time of my development...

So I work in medicine and have been conditioned for years to immediately look for what's wrong and try to fix asap it ie. if someone has chest pain I wouldn't say oh let's just be grateful you don't have cancer or stroke and let's ignore the pain and move on. While that's needed in medicine this kind of focus on negative can be very disempowering in regular life. I need a little of that selective positive optimistic "delusion", it makes life a completely different and much more enjoyable experience. Love this! :)

Being a 'Pollyanna' is such a gift! I just recently 'got' the gist of 'praise God in adversity', and I just start praising God for being the exact opposite of the adversity that's happening, and it gains momentum and changes not just me on the inside, but the entire atmosphere around me. I've never experienced something change to something so good, so immediately.

For instance, I stopped by our neighborhood "latin" grocery store to check it out, where I was met with smiling faces welcoming me, lots of personal assistance, and profuse thank yous for shopping there, and asked to please come again! Frankly just the opposite of what I experience at the large chain store...(plus more vibrant and beautiful produce for roughly half the price). Guess where I'd rather spend my grocery dollars? My whole day is lifted whenever I shop there! ❤

Your video came at such a timely moment. I've been feeling very low and unappreciated lately. To make matters worse, a student for whom I found a scholarship from a charity informed me that she didn't know there was a deadline for application documents, so she couldn't prepare them. Now she's out of town. She condescendingly added that I could give the scholarship to someone else if I wanted. It may sound strange, but I felt offended. Our sweet baby girl who has a rare, non-inherited genetic disorder that just happened all by itself when she was formed and was clearly who God made her to be, has been diagnosed with failure to thrive because she's really small and delayed in her motor skills. I too loved “Pollyanna.” I look forward to a Part 2 in regard to Positive Thinking! I consider myself a realist, leaning towards pessimism! While my parents did the best they could (plug for therapy or counseling), Pollyanna was a visual & auditory reference to live vicariously through Haley Mills character! “She” offered another perspective and offered me hope as a child. Sometimes when I find my “leaning” has morphed into an internal “loop” inside my head, I am having increased success with 4 affirmations: 1) I am kind. 2) I am forgiven 3) I am grateful 4) I am loving. 🥰 The sentences are succinct and repeating all 4 short sentences takes enough mental energy to break the loop of negative thoughts. It gives me pause and often, I will choose a different path, off the loop 🔁! Thank you for today’s video, Jennifer! Perfect timing ⏱️ 🐇❤

I found that I am basically a negative thinker (among many other surprises about my heritage). During my early years, being negative did not serve me well...making me fearful and full of anxiety. I began to read books on positive thinking and gradually developed an outlook that no matter what happens, it will be for the best. One exception, negative thinking is useful when it comes to money management. Otherwise, be positive when looking for work opportunities. You did good Jennifer. I'd like a Part 2 to this video. I'm still working on staying positve.

I’ve learned that we CHOOSE to be offended. Is it true? Also, consider the source. I was once chatting with a Hobby Lobby employee, and she mentioned that her positivity drove her adult son crazy. When asked by him how she could be so positive, she replied: “There’s always a silver lining.” I took that to heart. Also, I see nothing wrong with being a Pollyanna. I’ve always considered her a good role model. Who enjoys being around gloom and doom? We’re fed more information that detracts from our joy than nourishes us. God wants us to be joyful. I take THAT seriously. After all, on consideration, I have more blessings than miseries. It also depends on what you give your attention to. If the news feeds into my fears, then I turn it off. I will not give into Satan’s temptations to “be of this world.” Best wishes. Thank you for your channel. A light in the darkness.

Have you watched Trolls? Maybe it can shed some light on this.

Love this so much! Pollyanna was my most-watched movie growing up, and Romans 8:28 has been a key verse since I was in college. Thank you for putting this video together Jennifer - I would very much enjoy a part 2! And I’m thrilled to follow your links on LTK. 💜 ~Lindie

I loved this one, Jennifer. I tend to be a "glass half empty girl" so I often have to remind myself to see the bigger picture. Looking forward to part 2.

I loved the Pollyanna movie! I highly agree that things can work out for the good! We had a very hard time through the pandemic. We didn't see friends and family for 2 years. It was a very depressing time but the positive thing out of COVID, for my family, is that we wouldn't have moved if it didn't happen. 2 years after the pandemic started we moved out of our area and bought an house when the interest rates were very low and was able to sell our house at a reasonable price. We love our new amazing city with amazing schools, I live closer to my best friends and have many opportunities that I wouldn't ever had if we stayed.

Eagerly awaiting P2 of this -- positively so! Thinking back, I should thank people who were nasty to me because it's made me be nicer to others as I don't them to go through anything negative. With jobs and events that did not work out, it made something else better come to me -- though not necessarily in a monetary way.

This was such an encouraging and uplifting video! I would love a part 2! For myself, I've had a particularly challenging life. (Not to get into it here, just for context, and I know there are others who have had things much harder, and I do have SO much to be grateful for!) My husband lovingly teases me about how I could possibly be so optimistic ALWAYS when my experiences just seem to have knocked me down time and time again? The first time he asked me this question, I seriously considered it and realized that I could either judge the future based on my past and go around miserable all the time, or I could choose the mentality that I usually have (with the exception of my seasons of greif or moments of weakness). Life has knocked me down. I refuse to be bitter. I refuse to be hardened. I refuse to stay down. It takes some "fight" to get up again, and then I must fully embrace hope. We can simultaneously be content and hopeful. We cannot, however, simultaneously be devoid of hope and content. So I choose hope, and therefore contentment. I choose joy :)

Would love to see a part 2! I just love Pollyanna, I read it aloud to my 9 year old this past year. We loved the part when she wanted a doll but got crutches and still found a way to be thankful! :-) Thanks for putting such great messages out to us!

I did some self coaching and I polished up on being positive with everything around me. If I spilled rice on the carpet at least I have a vacuum. If I spilled the rice with sauce on the tiled floor at least I have rags and cleaner to clean it up. If I spilled the rice with sauce on the carpet at least I have a rug scrubber. Also in every thing we find negative there is a person in a worse situation. I can complain about a headache but there are ppl that are suffering from daily migraines. I am thankful it is just a down pour because in Florida they have hurricanes with flooding. I always think of Pollyanna with I am being grateful.
