How To Be Happy and Single. How do you view being ‘single?’ What’s your inner dialogue (and does it make you unhappy)? Here’s the key to unlocking your happiness while being single.
So many people wonder if they can ever be happy as a single person. It is the construct of your thoughts, and what you have made being “single” mean in your head that determines whether you can be happy or not.
If you’ve been dating people who have let you down, been abusive, don’t want what you want, or don’t want it with you… then the logical choice is to take a time out and enjoy the life that you have.
As for loneliness - a lot of people worry about feeling lonely. It’s impossible to feel lonely when you have your Self. There can be a yearning or a need to connect with others, and that is natural. But we don’t always need to siphon that urge into a romantic construct.
This video contains the information to re-adjust your mindset to allow the life that you have as a single person, right now, be enjoyable and rewarding.
Answering:
• How can I be happy even if I am single?
• How do I stop feeling lonely when single?
• How can I be happy alone and single?
• Why is it hard to be happy single?

Candy girl! I am so happy to hear from you. Do you know how many times I answer these video requests I'm hoping that the person who sent them, sees the answer. You beat me to it. Normally I send an email to the subscriber who requested the video. Thank you for being a devoted follower and I really really appreciate your message. Being single is a perfectly natural state of being. As I just wrote Teri, we were born whole and complete. If we meet somebody that adds to the quality of our life, fantastic. If not, we have ourselves, and there is no better company. Wishing you a fantastic year of enjoying your serenity and peace of mind.

I've been single longer than I've been attached. It always struck me as odd and judgemental when I would hear people make conclusions that being single meant being unhappy. It really showed more what those who said it thought of me, rather than what my actual lived experience was. Romantic relationships aren't the only ones that can leave you feeling fulfilled.

I think this depends hugely on wether it’s ”single right now ” or ”single forever ”. I don’t think many people feel very happy about being ”single forever ”, unless they have been in very bad relationships before. I think going for ”single right now, happy and living my dreams But hoping to meet someone nice in the foreseeable future ” is a healthy mindset.

Thank you Susan! I am struggling being single again so this was very uplifting. I have been dating a lot, but it is very hard to deal with the bad behavior, personal problems, and the time it takes to learn the truth about a person. There are a lot of people out there that simply lie about their situation and it’s such a mind drain to get the real story about someone. Lots of dead ends so to speak.

I have stopped dating and looking for a relationship. Too many bad dates, dishonest and deceitful men so have decided to be single for now and enjoy me. Am good being single and it’s refreshing- I view it as a time to reconnect with me and reflect and learn to love me again after two LTR . Am also good now paying for a hotel room for 2 for 1. It really is a mindset how you view being single- you can love, appreciate it or hate, dislike it but it’s a mindset which you have to decide on. Thank you for this video and happy 2024.

I've been single pretty much my entire life. I do enjoy the freedom yes, but let's be honest -- if I was desirable I would have lots of offers coming my way, and I don't. I think this video makes sense for people who've been in and out of relationships and who have been loved and have been desired. But to those of us "involuntarily single", although we could still be happy alone, singlehood means all the things that Susan listed in the beginning.

This video is nourishment for my soul, Susan. I am already content as a single person, but I’m working on letting go of the idea that being single is just a hold-over until I find myself in a great relationship. To shift focus to the state of being single as being even better than being in a relationship is, in your words, quite delicious 😊

Thank you, Susan. Life is very complex. I think sometimes we have delicious moments on our own and sometimes with others, but either can only happen when we're at peace and connected....if other people keep breaking your heart, you can't be at peace and connected, not even by yourself for a while....so IMO it's much better to put the focus on "am I happy?" Than on single/not single....you can be so miserable both with a great person you don't love and a toxic person you are somehow trauma-bonded to! Both is painful. You can also be miserable on your own...I enjoy every moment of feeling painfree and healthy. All the best 🍀

For me right now it's a hit or miss, because I am alone all the time. It sadly led to being isolated. Like, I adore my alone time, but it's also a vicious cycle. Lost contact with my friends and the effort put it into that have been a dealbreaker for my mental state. EDIT: And being alone for so long, I begin to find struggles in being in a relationship. I have become so reliable on myself, that I don't know how to find or sacrifice time for someone else. I wish I could work on this so it could be beneficial.
@SusanWinter
@SusanWinter 6 ай бұрын
It can be an adjustment. When I was writing Allowing Magnificence, I had to cut back on any social engagements that detoured my time and attention. Interestingly, the longer I spent alone the harder it was to begin to re-socialize. I had to stretch those muscles all over again. But you can do it if you care to and if what you were doing is so joyous and rewarding that you feel you would be sacrificing your focus in order to go play with somebody else, maybe you don't need as much connection as you think you do. It's all about what works for us. And no two people are constructed the same way.

I feel that most people (myself Included) fear that they’ll be alone forever. It’s not so much of a right now thing, It’s the fear that we’ll never find our person. I think what happens Is, that fear turns into doubt, that turns into self doubt. I find myself paying more attention to my flaws and becoming insecure when that fear sets In. It’s almost like the fear of being alone forever disguises itself as doubt, and self loathing. You have all these “self help” gurus who say “believe it will happen and it will” but there’s so many of us who believe so much it hurts. Especially when the love we seek seems so out of reach at the moment. Thank you for all you do Susan. Your channel Is such a safe space. ❤️

I love reading your answer. This is the ultimate state. Not to be afraid of falling in love, but to be so comfortable with ourselves, and our lives, that we do feel, we are living our "best life." And should you ever feel tempted to want to explore love, the only Love that would work for a disposition such as the one you have currently- is to find somebody who doesn't separate you from your peace of mind. Rather, somebody who allows you to be in connection with yourself, and doesn't demand you take care of them, coddle them, fix them, heal them, or do their life for them. Somebody independent, who is also at peace with themselves- who simply loves being with you and you love being with them

It is only now that I get to appreciate being single. A year ago, I was out there hasting to be intimate without actually sitting down with myself and asking myself what I really wanted. It took me a three-month failed date with a guy and my Mom's life-threatening disease to realize that craving for a relationship is superficial. I still believe that a man out there is meant for me, I am just not in a rush anymore. I am focused on building the future that I really want for myself, and if God willing I meet him along the way, then thank you, Lord. If not, still, thank you, Lord.

Sometimes being by yourself is fantastic, and other times it really sucks. I've been single for six months now after a very long term relationship. The first few weeks were great. After that it's been a slog. My job keeps me really busy and I have dental problems, so I can't even go out on dates yet. Hell, I don't even get to spend time with the few friends I have because I'm either living at work or I'm trying to take care of the basics at home (laundry, meal prep, cleaning, that stuff). And the touch starvation is real. No joke. I haven't been cuddled since the break up. I don't even care about sex, I just want someone to snuggle with and have meaningful conversations. Logically I know that nothing's wrong with me for being single, but in my heart, I can't shake the idea that all the negative ideas you listed are actually true for me and that no one will want me. It's very frustrating. My end goal is to be happy by myself (because chances are I'll never find the partner I dream of), but it is really difficult...

I’m sorry for the medical issues that are going on. But what’s not helping you is that in your day-to-day single life you are overworked, stressed out, and exhausted. And that doesn’t allow you to have a healthy social life. So everything is going to feel far moredifficult right now. I really hope it’s just a passing phase and that you will regain your balance because it’s clear that when you have balance, you’re a lot happier. Best wishes!

@SusanWinter, you are my True North, and I am grateful for you. Usually, negative thoughts and feelings about being single come from childhood issues that need to be healed. I am healing mine in therapy and, as a result, becoming happy with my fun, full, busy life with work, friends, and hobbies. Here's a shift in the conversation, and it speaks to unhappy coupled people as well as unhappy singles: either way, our feelings and thoughts ALL stem from our relationship with ourselves. I had to change the belief that I was left out, unwanted, and unworthy. I felt that way due to CEN, Childhood Emotional Neglect, and once i realized that it was the source of my unhappiness, i began the long, painful journey to heal it. Now I'm turning 70 and happier than I've ever been, whether single or partnered.

I think the only way to break this mindset is through some kind of hypnotherapy 🥳

Thank you for hearting my comment Susan I loved your video and I have been embracing a lot of this advice for a very long time even when I was a teen. I love my own company and I have recently been diagnosed ADHD which now makes a lot of sense and is helping me to put things into perspective about how I see myself. I have had lots of talking therapy which for me didn’t click but brain reworking has worked wonders.. tapping EDMR and NLP are gold!!! But not many people are aware of how powerful they are. Talking therapy can keep you in a victim loop whereas a mindset shift via a fi of hypnotherapy can transform everything… thank you for this excellent video reminder of how to accept and embrace being by and loving yourself. ❤️

I am literally hopeless when it comes to love. Being attracted to the same gender makes it even worse. I am 25 and have never been in a relationship, haven’t even had a date in over a year. It’s not that I am not attractive, cause I’ve been told many times that I look good and my personality is amazing… but I am unlucky in love

That's a great idea! Thank you. I just know that the last book I published in audiobook format, break up triage, cost me over $900 and that was only a 33 minute audio book. So let me think about this one a bit. And I do appreciate you being interested in the book. I'm so so sorry I got lost in the mail, but you can read the ebook version online.

Susan-I found your channel recently and I'm so grateful. I've had my share of terrible relationships and I'm looking forward to the new year filled with happy, healthy relationships 🙏. You are so insightful and wise. I'm going to continue having an uplifting and positive attitude while I'm out here working, living, etc. I will no longer let negative minds influence my life. I will continue my self-love journey as long as it takes. Now being in my 30's, I'm really coming into my own and realizing exactly what I deserve, nothing less. I refuse to settle and I've been indulging in self-care, exercise, etc. Seriously Susan, thank you. Happy New Year. 🎉🎊🌙🌌🌠🔥✨🎈😇😁🥳💯🙏💖💓💋🤍🧡
