1) Allow yourself to feel your emotions (BOTH positive and negative feelings) to let flow the emotions thorough the body 2) Be intuitive - meditate (relax your mind) dealing with your emotions (calligraphy) 3) To REALLY dance - move body physically (hips, shoulders) certain emotions are stuck somewhere on some parts of our bodies so to allow ourselves to express and self-soothe in the process 4) Taking care of our body (intentional body care, self-pampering, self-love and self-inspection) nightly routine. Loving my body. Massaging body. Putting on cream. Put on socks. Warm up the feet. 5) Nurturing (not just yourself) - Volunteering in a community, social acts of kindness (tutoring kids) taking care of your pets, kids. 6) Playing dress up in a feminine way- skirts and dresses. To feel more feminine. Up to your own preference and interests which helps to make you feel more feminine or ladylike. Embrace and appreciate skirts and dresses more. And heels. Start with what you can work with and see for yourself how you feel about them. 7) Surround yourself with other women. To feel supported. Family and friends girlfriends. In a circle. Not in a isolation. For few hours. Exchange energy. Talk about books, movies. Share common interests. Good for mental and emotion and well-being. Help boost their immune systems overall well being. Results in longest life. Important to be selective as well. Who you spend time with. Women who are supportive and feel generally happy for you.

I'm one of those women who have trouble connecting my brain with my body and controlling specific parts. Even when I did martial arts and was super athletic, it was a struggle. Women who belly dance look amazing, making it look like their hips are disconnected from their torsos, so maybe I should try that haha.

It's interesting that calligraphy helps you with your emotions - in Japan you can copy Buddhist sutras at temples as a way to meditate or calm your mind. (Anyone can do these even if they don't know Japanese.) There are many opportunities to meditate in our world, even while washing the dishes or vacuuming!

@@EvaMilano9 It's called "shakyo." I don't think it's available at every temple, but I can see some in Nikko and Kamakura. You have to pay for it and sign up in advance, so it might be best to do this through one of the activity websites like JNTO, attractive japan or sendai experience. The cost is 500 yen - 2,000 yen. DO NOT PAY MORE, I see some places charge 25,000 yen!

Hey Jamila, I hope you are doing good. I loved this video,very insightful!! Got to learn lots of new things. As compared to trousers and denims, wearing skirts and dresses has made me feel more feminine,this particular tip of yours is my most favourite as I have experienced the difference and was wondering how little changes can alter the way we feel about ourself. Just subtle changes with the prints of our clothes and the fabrics make a huge difference. I love wearing small floral prints and flowy fabrics like satin and silk whenever I want to look more feminine. Colours also have a huge contribution - I personally feel more feminine in shades of pink and red. Thank you for the video!!💕 I have a request,can you suggest some books on the topic Feminity ?

just in case anyone wants a trick to keep their hands nice without going to the nail salon: 1) file and shape 2) clean the surface of the nail with a cotton pad and rubbing alcohol 3) apply a base coat, it’s important that it’s not a semi-permanent polish, just a regular clear base coat. let it air dry for about 5 minutes 4) apply a semi-permanent polish (I mean gel, the ones that you cure with a lamp) (I recommend milky colors, or semi-translucent nude shades, not solid colors) I use a peachy-milky color on myself, do one layer first and cure in an led lamp for 60 seconds, repeat the procedure for a total of two thin layers of gel 5) apply a layer of semi-permanent top coat and cure in an led lamp for 60 seconds. With this trick you will have a manicure that will last you a week, then you can peel the polish off like a sticker (it doesn’t damage your nails, that's the whole point of using regular base coat instead of gel base coat) and remove the rest with some rubbing alcohol. Use some kind of oil to maintain your cuticles, i like almond or jojoba oil. Use oregano oil on your feet, as it softens the skin and helps prevent fungus and bacteria.

I love that I'm a woman and I love to be feminine also in my looks, but when I dress up femininely I get a lot of attention on the streets, especially by men, which makes me feel uncomfortable and self conscious. I know it's not bad attention, since I dress always elegantly and never flashy, but I feel kind of exposed and also like people would think"why is she dressing up like that? Who she thinks she is?" I feel vulnerable is the right word to say I guess... maybe you, Jamila, or anyone can tell me their opinion on that...

Hello Jamila, I agree with this post. I am also dressing to be more feminine, wearing dresses, but being modest and conservative. I am getting more attention from men, however it makes me uncomfortable and I am not used to it. I often turn away to see who they are looking at or smiling at, as I assume it's not me. Could you possibly speak on how to handle the extra attention gracefully without cringing and trying to hide?

Dear Jamila, emotion and angry actions are a serious problem. Being feminine when I was a girl meant being dainty, not strong. Loving babies, cosmetics and fashions and giggling about boys were part of being a girl. I was interested in the plants and animals that lived in the woods and fields. My appreciation of beauty was inspired by stories and art. Pampering would have been wrong for me and my peers as adults. I would not have been allowed any self indulgence. The adult women who did have that freedom had money for themselves. Being a woman meant self-sacrifice with a smile. This is not easy to write as a comment, but your views are important to me. Please feel free to discuss these ideas because you have touched the hearts of many women as well as mine.

@antoinette4729Ай бұрын
I am an older woman, thin, and look years less than my age. I spend more time with men at various social clubs (photography, art, computer) than with women. My interests are more aligned with male interests than women's interest, possibly because I have no children. The women I do see socially are much younger than me and are more cheerful and positive than gals my age.

I find it very difficult to associate feminity and emotion. Then being masculine means ? Feels like no one here got any education. It's great to be delicate and to take care of things. But what does it mean, in a political way, to praise feminity ? I cannot apply that to myself without feeling like an hypocrite. How can I talk about equality then ? Rather be free than feminine, don't you think ?
@softsophisticateАй бұрын
I'm married, my husband is very much in his head - logical, thinking. I am more emotional, very in touch with my emotions. We are equal but we are different from men. We complement each other, each has different skills that together aid survival and enjoyment of life.

@softsophisticate society ( KZbin in that case) teaches us to become like this. Women should take care of child, man of money. It is what Judith butler called, performative power of genre. What if it's not fair ? What if then, it conducts to men abuse their economical power when women are left with only their little emotion and feelings and cannot use their will and ability to think ? I am a woman, I am high graduated, I am more logical and educated than most men I know. Every body is different and I don't think there is a natural difference between man and women, except from a physical point of view. We then decide what is feminity and masculinity and act whtih it. Of course if I want to get marry fast, I better wear dresses, smile a lot, and take care of my body. To define feminity like an emotional quality is the open path for saying, women are irrational, intuitive, maybe even a little bit stupid why not ? It's not only about reason of course. And it's not only unfair to woman ( who are always weeker and without power, which leads to abuse ), but to man also : who get problems when there is a war... ? It is too easy to say, we complete each other. It is beautiful for heterosexual people but its not that simple. Man have a lot of emotions, and I have a lot of power. We then decide to show things and to hide others. Are we sure it is a good point from a political and collective point of view ? Politics start in intimacy. If you allow people to tell you you are not logical because you are a women, then it is not surprising to see who have political power in our society. And that's a problem. In other word, sorry, but what you are saying sounds st*pid and naive. It's not because you show your emotions to seduce your husband that it means that every women is an intuitive goddess.

@@softsophisticate I believe it is really too easy and practical to say, "we" complete each other, like nature was a perfect couple. It is beautiful for hetero people but its not that simple. Man have a lot of emotions, and I have a lot of power too if I decide. We show things and hide others. Everybody has instincts, education plays a role then. My question is, are we sure it is a good point from a political and collective point of view to define and adapt our behaviour for feminity in a way that associate it with weakness, sociability, emotions ? When man are power, lone wolf, reason ? I think it is terrible for men as well as for women ! And absolutely, idiot.. every human has emotions, needs, and instincts. Politics start in intimacy. It is the norm to be like this, but what does it permitt and nourrish ? Anyway, in general it is a good thing to take care of other and to have friend or to watch your health.
