Thank you for this advise, very valuable for some of us that are new in the profession. The other day I was thinking if I am to grown in this profession I need 2/ 3 other organizations experience to gain fit in my output and that is obviously true, I just cant gain as enough experience from one organisation to lead as an HR specialist. Thanks appreciate

This was helpful. I've been in HR for about 20 years, and just recently (2 months ago) tried my hand at an HR Mgr position. I was not successful and was let go last week because the higher ups said I was not assertive or confident enough. It was the most stressful and anxiety-filled 2 months of my life! My hair fell out, and I had to be placed on blood pressure meds, and developed tinnitus! To be honest, I did not qualify for the position because it required at least 3 yrs previous hr management, and knowledge of non-profit law and I had only been an HRG. The VP of HR was essentially giving me a shot because we knew each other. I see now, that was a recipe for failure. I don't want this to discourage me because I know I can rock this role with my yrs of exp. How can I regroup? Lastly, what exactly is a dashboard? I've been hearing that term used lately. To me, it's simply an excel spreadsheet. Am I incorrect? Thank you.

Hey, there is a lot to unpack on this one. But first, do not blame yourself for the chain of events. The organization should have taken a lot of things into consideration prior to promoting individuals into a managerial position. They should have at least offered mentorship, coaching or training. Everyone needs support regardless of where they sit in the organization. And it's certainly unfair to bring someone in from the outside and expect them to know all of the intricacies associated with an organization. It's not that you failed, the organization failed to take this opportunity to establish a solid foundation for your growth.

Hi, I will be relocating to NJ soon, have experience in HR but not specific to US environment and employees, what certifications would help me get a job?

SHRM-CP certification through a SHRM membership . Get ready to work with people who will give you tons headaches and a bad attitude. 😂 Unless you are working in HR analytics, then you won’t have to deal with people so much.

No longer employed in full-time jobs , w/o benefits, workers get caught between declining purchasing power and soring health care costs. Many workers additionally suffer under a global 'wage race to the bottom' as corporations seek the low cost supplier (wherever they may be off shore). Where jobs vanish and workers are jettisoned HR will be in the vanguard. This is the 'dark side' of this position....if this is your career selection 'buyer beware'.
