I wish I had the coaching these kids had today. I taught myself this move in high school and it worked pretty well but watching this coach demonstrate it I can tell you this way blows the way I did mine WAAAY out of the water.

Not really. You have to attack on the catch, quick step explode. Too much dribbling for nothing that’s getting shut down easily. Jab game and quick step is more dangerous than all those dribbles. If you have blow by speed all it takes on the catch attack or at the most jab and go.

These are my favorite videos because they teach with students and explain how the moves are used in context (with other teammates and defenders). These lessons are much more helpful than demonstrating a move with no one else on the floor.

What I’ve learned a lot from basketball is that there is many ways that you can control and move past your defender. What I mostly like to do in a 2v2s or 1v1s in the Chris Paul switch. If you do not know what the Chris Paul switch is, you head right or left (slowly) then quickly switch to the other side with the hand you are currently dribbling with. I’m a right hand ball handler/shooter, so I start off with my right hand, then push to the basket with my left. If you can use that in games, it’s a guaranteed point (if you know how to use it)

The biggest thing i learned- Get your right foot aligned with the defenders right foot. It sets the perfect angle to blow past them.

I always had trouble beating my defender off the dribble and driving to the basket. It was mostly likely because of my lack of strength where I get pushed back a lot everytime i drive through a defender.
