Honestly as time goes on, Mac being a completely bad character gets less real over time, yeah he is not high tier or anything, he's most likely one of the few characters that people really need to understand in order to play him well. I think using counter when being overwhelmed by aerials or strong moves, avoiding getting grabbed (the hardest IMO) knowing good strings and loose combos to keep the opponent guessing, grabbing people who really dedicate to shield and not being afraid to jump to evade stuff is what separates bad Macs from the good ones. You can probably get away with hitting people with nair or up air when they don't expect it and pressure them off of it, Mac's speed and frame data even if unsafe at times is a blessing for him, if he did not have that then he would have been horrible. You can make the most out of any situation if you innovate your advantage The first thing Mac mains should do is figure out how to deal with disadvantage and try to see what they will do. However me, I lose to grab spam and multi hit projectiles that keep you in place. (Heck certain projectiles you can just counter because if they really camp they can't do anything and it's not that heavy on endlag, just make sure you keep an eye on them if they approach with projectiles and shield your counter)

@@__scored__3775 Even if those were great changes I think he would still be edge guardable unless timing your punch to beat there aggressive option works out. I'd like it if Mac's air acceleration is better along with other fighters having bad air accel. That's one of the most important stats, even if Mac's regular air speed is great. (Same as Mario, Sonic and Inkling)

For me the only problems have been tank characters that have a grab ability that can just throw you off stage so DK and King K as well as Gannon are always matches I hate even Kirby matchups where all they do is swallow you and throw you off stage
