The part with the crowd walking towards the evacuation boats pissed me off because I know how realistic that is. People are very stupid, especially in groups, so like you said being near a large group like that is basically a death sentence. At that point in the movie they KNEW the aliens hunted by sound yet all of that went out the window as soon as they gathered together. When that one woman started panicking and screaming her loved one's name I was literally rolling my eyes and thinking that's EXACTLY what someone in real life would do.

If an alien invasion does happen, I personally find it best to avoid big crowds and don't get too attached to groups of people. This though. Technically sound as a weapon itself has been used for thousands of years, but also the military and police already have LRADs/sound cannons that they use as crowd control, weapons, etc. Idk if it would have been widely public knowledge though when this movie was made/actually written and is set (esp the first one*), but I'm pretty sure it was (I'm finding they were invented in the early 2000s, were used in Iraq and then used at a rallies/protests/etc by police/military/etc orgs. One example being in 2011 and another in 2014, and then other examples being against Palestinian protests, environmentalists, and a lot of other uses. It's possible the writers just didn't know about it/take it into consideration)

Eric did what he could. If you've ever had a panic attack, you know that there's only so much you can do. Throughout the attack, there are times you think that you might die just from the fear and anxiety. Even in a life or death situation, during a panic attack, you have no idea what to do, and you can't think straight, so the fact that he got through it quietly until the last breath is actually kinda impressive

You are right; the cloud isn't doing anything. The monster just doesn't detect them because they are silent. In the movie, the cloud covers the monster so you can't tell if it left or not. The dust does nothing to help them and was just there for dramatic effect.

This was my point exactly, as well. Lure the monsters to the port, fly helicopter over them in Instinct they're going to chase after it, and next thing you know they're running off into the water, to drown. Rinse and repeat. Eventually all the monsters in the area either get too wise to this or they all eventually succumb to this method of elimination.

Honestly, it seemed Eric more had an irrational fear of water. Every time he hit panic attack mode, it was always when faced with a situation where his head might go below water. First panic attack: When he surfaced from the subway. Second panic attack: When they had to travel through the subway waters. Third panic attack: When he knew he was going to have to swim for the boat. If it was a general fear of the monsters that was causing his panic attacks, he certainly would've had one in the place with the spores considering that big ass monster was right next to him. But he was able to keep himself calm and silent until it passed. As someone who also has an irrational fear of water, I found him to be quite brave in how, despite his fear, he still managed to make himself do what needed to be done despite the fear.

There is also near zero way for the average person to expose their animal to a similar situation to desensitize them. I would believe a well bred and trained LGD first since they should go completely silent, take cover, and assess the situation. A good one won't blindly run at a threat. The pack will quietly circle it while assessing. Even in a sudden attack on stock, a good pack will just go and you'll rarely hear them until they engage the threat.

Personally I already don't like to make a lot of noise whenever I'm doing stuff on a daily even without the crazy alien Daredevil creatures roaming the city so I think I'm good on that end. Although if I was in this position I would personaly carry small objects on my pockets, that way if I ever find myself in a situation where I might be cornered by one of those things I could throw something in another direction to make noise and distract them for at least long enough for me to get away. Not to mention as an introvert I wouldn't stay anywhere near other people, I can trust myself to keep my mouth shut and not make any unnecessary noises but I can't trust other people to do the same. I ain't letting myself get killed over other people's stupidity.
