5:31 When you say dietitians can also work solely in nutrition research, what credentials are needed? Is PhD necessary at all?
@MariauceyRD_Dietitian29 күн бұрын
Hi Juanca, thats a great question and one I'm not 100% sure of but I think you can - typically its often done whilst working towards a PHD but I know research assistants are often needed. You could also work for a public body where you are carrying out audits, collecting data etc.

Hello Ammar 👋 Thank you for watching, I'm glad it was helpful. I'm not 100%, it would be best to contact the university directly for an accurate answer.

Hi, is chemistry really required to study dietetics? I’m about to choose my leaving cert subjects and I know I won’t be able to score high enough in order to get into the undergraduate course in Ireland. If I don’t do chemistry, is all I’m left with is the path of doing nutritional science and then a masters in dietetics? Thank you !
@MariauceyRD_Dietitian9 ай бұрын
Hi Julia, it depends where you choose to study. I would recommend contacting the university to get a 100% definitive answer. It was a requirement for when I did dietetics in 2012 and from what I can see it hasn't changed. Check out this link here:www.tudublin.ie/study/undergraduate/courses/human-nutrition-and-dietetics-tu870/ This is for the course in TUD and trinity. Please double and triple check because its not a mistake you want to make. It says you need at least a H4 in chemistry. The other path if you don't get into dietetics as an undergrad is nutritional science and a masters. There have been a lot more masters programmes over the last no. of years (Cork, Limerick and Dublin) so it has become a lot easier to get into a masters now as there is more spaces. Your welcome! I hope this information is helpful. thank you for watching the video 💚

Hiya! Love the video, I found it very insightful, especially since I am looking to go back to education and get qualified as an RD. As a mature student who will need to do an 'Access to HE: Science' course, what are the chances of any dietitians allowing me to shadow/volunteer with them during that course? Or is it more likely they would want me to have some Dietetic/Nutrition based education first? :) And if you have any advice for someone looking to qualify later in life I'd be happy to hear it

Thank you for watching. You may need to accrue some more recent clinical practice hours but I would check with the country you are hoping to register with for exact requirements ☺️

Hi Maria, this is Pema from Bhutan. I am a registered dietician (with bachelors in Nutrition and Dietetics from India ) in Bhutan with over a decade of field experience in various hospitals in my country. Now I want to work in NHS as registered dietician, what are my processes ahead. Please help. Any conversion exams or can I can get a job directly?
@MariauceyRD_DietitianАй бұрын
Hi Pema, I would recommend getting in touch with the British Dietetic Association or the HPHC in the UK, they will be able to provide the most up to date guidance on the current registration process in the uk ☺️ Best of luck!

Hii Maria! This is Vimala .. I passed out in 2013 with Masters in Food Science and Nutrition from India.I have 10 years of experience as Dietitian in Different countries.Now i am working in Qatar as Clinical Dietetic Coordinator.At current i am processing CORU recognition.I have submitted all the verification forms to CORU..Do you know how long does CORU takes to recognise my application?And after CORU recognition,what is the probability of acquiring a Dietitian job in Ireland public sector?Can you please guide me through Sister?
@MariauceyRD_Dietitian6 ай бұрын
Hi Vimal! Well done, its ounds like you have a lot of experience and would be of great value as a dietitian in Ireland. CORÚ have known to be quite slow, particularly for degrees obtained outside Ireland so I would continue to keep in contact with them and checking in with how they are progressing. its a great time to move to ireland as a dietitian as there are lots of job opening. Check out this website to find some. And best of luck 💚www.irishjobs.ie/jobs/dietitian?searchOrigin=Homepage_top-search

I'm studying nutrition and Dietetics in India. What are the qualifications needed to be a dietitian in Ireland?
@MariauceyRD_Dietitian9 ай бұрын
Hi Swarna! That is amazing. Ireland is an amazing place for dietitians. You would need to contact CORÚ and they would have to validate your degree from India and determine if yo would need to do anything else .www.coru.ie/
