Focus on the process. Its a no win situation for me. If I start at $1K people will say use larger numbers, if I start too high I get comments like this. Just focus on the process.

You need more, because taxes will lower your amount of dividend income. But the process Mark mentioned is well explained. 👌🏽

It can be done with little $. I put off buying a new(er) truck and diverted 90% of that payment towards div growth stocks. Then the same with my wife’s car payment. In 2 years we had 12k invested, not it’s almost 20k at 4.7% yield. It’s likely that our 20k will be about 100k by the time we retire, probably with about a 10-12% yield on cost. That’ll still go a long way or buy some mental security. Maybe you won’t have a million, but it’ll be more than if you didn’t. 👍🏻🤝

A combination of large cap growth (, MSFT, AMZN) and value (ABBV, CVX) stocks is a great start to a successful portfolio. I told my son to auto invest 300.00 on a monthly basis into SCHD and the compounding effect will make him rich over time. The key is disciple over a long-time horizon.

Excellent presentation Mark, and thanks for bringing attention to this often overlooked or ignored method of securing wealth via a multi decade strategy. I was able to retire back to Ireland from Boston at 55, off just one stock ( Which I still own after 50 years ), due to the compounding dividends and natural growth of the stock over a long time frame. I also own QQQ, SCHG, SCHD, VOO, JPEQ, and VGT, along with about 25 stock picks . Cheers.

I totally agree that a portfolio needs to balance growth and dividend. Yet, I see all DIY investors chasing high dividends mesmerized by impressive projection spreadsheets, but the fact still remains that VOO beats SCHD in a portfolio backtest...

How is Enbridge and Bank of Nova scotia for dividend stocks..
@pshao863 ай бұрын
do you use a tax deferred account to buy dividend stocks? I refrain from too much dividend investing in my normal brokerage account bc I don’t want to pay an increasing amount of taxes as my dividend income increases/compounds over time. And aren’t most tax deferred accounts for retirement? That’s my biggest question
@coreys53533 ай бұрын
Qualified dividends are taxed as long term capital gains. Unqualified dividends like those from REITS like $O and $VICI or BDCs like $MAIN are taxed as normal income. Whichever account you choose to hold them in is up to you and your personal situation.
