I've been a recruitment consultant for almost a year now. I'm also currently in a startup company/agency that provides recruitment services. Tomorrow is my first day meeting a client face to face and I'm terrified! Was trying to find some motivating videos to "learn how to deal with clients/prospects" and I'm very glad to say that I stumbled upon your video with alot of gratitude. Your highlight about shifting your focus and getting more information when calling prospects gave me a new perspective to look at how to manage and build strong relationships with clients. thank you so much! Can't wait to binge over more of your sharing about recruitment.

Out of all the videos on this subject... your the only one I take seriously... With your skill and mindset: I suggest you move beyond this reinvented rat race into something more stable and profitable such as pharmaceutical sales...

Very informative thank you. But, I'd like to intervene in some parts, rather, I have a question on some parts. Does consistency and predictability always the best practice for a recruiter? Let me give you an example, a small company just started and they need to hire a mass of people to get on their feet. To be consistent and predictable, you need to take your time and that is time consuming. So, in the end a recruiter is forced to focus on numbers rather than quality. It is a dilemma and I am not quite sure if it applies to small companies Thanks
@IvanLeens2 жыл бұрын
Hello Lulu, there is two aspects in your question, firstly, it’s a false dilemma. It’s not because you do volume that you can’t do quality. If a company is massively hiring, applying the best practices will only help you to do a better job. Secondly, you always need a long term vision which will help you to keep a good balance. Don’t focus all your time and energy on this single client because the day they are no longer recruiting, you have to start from scratch again. Keep a good a balance so you don’t put all your eggs in the same basket

The issue is that recruiter start their career in recruitment company where they're pressed towards closing deals constantly and therefore might underperform
@IvanLeens2 жыл бұрын
You are right that’s why it is important to focus not on the output but what it takes to get there and also target staffing agencies with the maturity to have a long term vision. If you start and they are focusing on making you profitable in the first weeks / months rather than acquiring the fundamentals, I would recommend to apply somewhere else
