A good way to prevent so much lint is to use a hand vac and as soon as you cut the fabric with the rotary cutter; before moving the fabric, run the hand vac or a shop vac with wedge attachment down the cut edge. It gets rid of most of the loose fibers and your sewing area and yourself stay much cleaner. I figured this out while making multiple Minky scarves for Christmas one year.

Thanks! This is a great tutorial! My question is regarding the results of washing this blanket... Will the cuddle binding fray on the back side? The stitches seam wide and large leaving areas tacked down but not completely covered to stop fraying... what is your experience?

The binding is wide enough to fold it under so the raw edge is not exposed. I used a zig zag stitch to sew it down. Worked perfect. I'm gonna use this method to bind hooded baby towels with flannel.

All my lap and twin quilts are not cuddly, but bulky. I love making quilt pieced tops. Can I just use cuddle or minky for the back without batting? Do I have to machine quilt it so they don't stretch out? Please help. I've stopped making quilt tops cause no one uses them, just looks at them. They like using fleece blankets.

Is there not any actual quilting on these quilts to keep the backing attached to the top or are they free floating?

I used cuddle fleece for the backing on a quilt, then I did the binding with cotton quilt and it was very difficult to bind. There were so many layers. It was QAYG appliqué project. I don’t see you using batting. It was a Wendy Gratz puppies pattern. Should I just not have used cuddle fleece? Should I have used cuddle fleece for the binding? I’m getting ready to do another Gratz pattern, but I don’t want the binding nightmare. Can anyone give me some advice?

i am making a bunch of flannel and ultra cuddle fabric blankets that are 2 yards each in size. I have made a few already using your other video, where you turn them inside out and make the perfect corners, however with this fabric its pretty much impossible considering the size lol. My question is i want to do it like this video shows, however i want the bunding to be much thicker, maybe 5 inches around on both sides. (ninja turtle flannel and solid ultra cuddle is one of them, another is spiderman, another is pink cheetah, you get the idea... so i want the print to show up a lot on the other side) How would i go about that? Instead of 1 3/4" what should it be? and instead of the half inch what should it be? Thank so much!

Thank you very much for your tutorials. I watch them and will buy fabric from you when possible. I have three "beginner" questions: When you use adhesive spray, does it gum-up your needle on the sewing machine? Does the adhesive wash out? And lastly, can you long arm minkee fabric? I'm thinking of using minkee on the back of a twin size quilt and will want to long arm the quilt. Thank you for letting me know.
@marlettelouisin9805
@marlettelouisin9805 9 жыл бұрын
Yes, you can long arm quilt with Minkee or Cuddle. You have to pin the selvedges to the rollers and keep your fabric tension loose. I've not done a 2 sided Minkee quilt just a back. I've done reversible fleece quilts but fleece isn't slippery like Minkee/Cuddle. If you're on a forum you might ask if someone has done 2 sides with this fabric..

When she got to binding the back, did she tuck under the raw edge a bit, before sewing it down? or was the raw edge just left thanks
@texaschic64
@texaschic64 8 жыл бұрын
+rachaelkoger ... She sewed on the binding to the back (solid color) then sewed the binding to the front (print side) using a zigzag stitch without turning under the binding, the zigzag does the trick. You could use a straight stitch if needed. The Cuddle Cloth and Minky really doesn't ravel so there is no need to turn under the edges.

Hi Maggi! I have a "grown up size" version of this that I love to snuggle up with. I didn't tack it at all. The fabric shifts occasionally but because of it's texture and the weight of it, it really does stay true to it's shape. Think of it more as a cuddly throw than a typical quilt. Hope that helps!

I'm confused...isn't the nap on the binding going to get reversed when you get around the 2nd corner? i.e.: binding nap going toward the top of the quilt instead of the bottom?
