@Fari Shaf I used wella T14 but to determine what toner you will need, it really depends on how your hair turns out when your done bleaching it. For example when I was done bleaching it my hair had a orange tone to it so wella T14 is a blue base toner so that cancels out orange tones but it you end up with a more light yellow you will need a purple base toner so wella t18. Look up wella toners here on KZbin and you will get a better idea of what I'm talking about... research research is the key girl
@LilyBe35 жыл бұрын
@Fari Shaf well after bleaching your hair it will most likely be orange yellow or brassy so the Toner is what's going to neutralize does brassy yellow or orange on bleached hair. You will definitely need toner after bleach

@@machimuchy7963 it's difficult to say without seeing it to get an idea of the level you're at, but i would work on applying the bleach to the red first as it will be stubborn to lift, then roots as the scalp heat tends to lift quickly and finally through to the ends if they are a lighter pink as you say, the underneath blonde may be done later in processing as you will want to just even out the blonde all over, I hope this is of some help, my main advice would be DON'T re-bleach over and over, if it isn't the desired lift wait a couple of weeks and do deep conditioning treatments in that time, let your hair recover before lifting again (if it needs it) I hope it goes well for you, Best of luck 👍

I have been a hairstylist for almost 20 years now. For all of those commenting that they cant believe how their hairstylist said they couldn't get this done in 1 day..please remember that ALOT of stylists do not have 2 extra hands helping to get this done in 1 day. If we did then of course we could do it. This is not a easy process. I wish you all the best when trying to do this on your own at home. It looks easy when watching these videos but everybody's hair is different. This was also done on virgin hair which makes a huge difference. Lots of questions have to be asked before doing this process for example..Do you have any previous color on your hair?(that's if they tell you the truth) Do you use a lot of product on your hair daily? Bc there could be serious build up on the hair which will keep the hair from lifting like it should. THIS IS A BIG ONE--Do you have skin sensitivities? Doing on scalp bleach can be very dangerous if you have sensitive skin. NOT ALL BLEACHES ARE MADE FOR ON SCALP!! There are so many things you have to take into account before ever touching your hair or scalp with bleach/Lightner. Not everyone can do this to their hair bc they may have an allergic reaction. We are told to do patch test to check for sensitivities before starting the process. I've had clients who I've had to wash it out shortly after applying bc their scalp is burning and that does make for a pretty color bc it hasn't processed fully. As far as price I'm sure this person paid a pretty penny to get this done in 1 day and it turn out as beautiful as it did. To all of you who want to do it at home please remember he had 2 other stylists helping him. Timing is everything when it comes to doing all over bleach if you want to keep your hair healthy and not hit the floor. Hence the 2 extra hands. 🙌 To the hairstylist who made this video..BEAUTIFUL WORK! 💯🙌❤️

That’s because they want your hair to prevent it from further damage in one day and it’s safer for hairdressers to tell their clients for their hair to take a rest from chemicals and this also protects us from a lawsuit so that’s why they provide a consultation which is important for the client to acknowledge the risk taking of chemical procedures. Everyone’s hair is different, depending how it can tolerate the chemicals within one sitting. It’s not good for the hair. We encourage you to buy qualified hair products for the care of your hair to keep you guys from coming back and wasting more money on disasters at home just for neglecting your hair care. Happens all the time.

(over these years ive only messed my hair up once, and it was because i used a different bleach and i didnt know how strong it was) Plus she wasnt jet black like us.as u mentioned Usually as far as ive heard and seen, jet black hair never goes to platinum blonde with one session of bleach. The bleach itself even never claims it can lift 10 freakin levels of color.

They would have to chop off at least 6 inches of hair because hair that is colored dark and then bleached cant usually get past a level 7 without melting off or becoming seriously comprised. It becomes gummy/extremely porous and takes a whole day to air dry hair on a daily basis after such damage. Not even olaplex can save such damaged hair. This is because bleaching hair essentially makes hair empty. The more empty, the lighter it becomes. That’s why it’s best to slowly trim off any hair that’s been colored dark until it’s all gone, then bleach.

Okay, so imma rant about a "professional" hairdresser my mom hired to do my hair rn hehe this happened a year ago and this comment is long and nobody will probably read this but. . So at that time I was 11 years old and I wanted to color my hair light brown. I already had dark brown hair to begin with and I wanted to go lighter. She came over to my house and did my hair there while my mom was working. So she used those box dyes which I think are brought from some cheap chinese store. She then put applied it on my hair and we proceeded to wait for about an hour. So fast forward an hour later, she said we should already wash the excess off, but she noticed that the color didn't show. So she put this blueish cream which I learned from the video was actually bleach, and applied it on my hair while the cream colorant she applied an hour ago was still on my hair. I didn't know if it was okay to do this on the hair but like I said, I was still 11 and I was a pretty shy and timid girl (I still am) so I didn't ask what she put on or anything. We then waited for another half an hour. After that, she removed the excess and dried my hair. Now I regret not asking what the hell that blue cream thing was because it definitely did something to my hair. It damaged it and not to mention the color was still the same. Call me stupid for not knowing what bleach was or how it looked like, but I was younger at the time and my mom wasn't there to watch was she was doing. So I think this is it and if you ever bothered to read this I really appreciate it. Thank youuu

Wow...that sounds crazy. My mom didn't let me use any dye on my hair until I was like 17 years old. And when I told her I wanted light hair she told me about lemon juice and sitting in the sun and also peroxide. The peroxide turned my hair to rubber bands because I kept using it all the time not realizing how bad it was. I didn't even know what hair bleaching was until I was maybe 19

I understand why people are mad it’s patchy. I paid $300 for my first appointment to get to platinum, and I only reached a level 8 overall. My second appointment was $240, to brighten up my hair (she basically took bleach and sectioned my hair into 4 chunks and slapped bleach on the surface) and touch up my roots. Overall I still have the level 8 hair underneath my surface layer of hair and I didn’t notice until recently. I won’t be going back to my stylist and while I feel bad, my ultimate goal was platinum. I’m now doing my own hair at home. :) and yes I understand going platinum is challenging, but I shouldn’t have a level 8 section underneath my level 10. It just doesn’t make sense. ***EDIT: After following the directions Ugly Duckling left below I'm completely satisfied with the result. the toner really helped my hair still feel healthy and soft!*** I bought these products and followed the directions on them as well as this video, but I'm not getting a similar result. Could you tell me how long the bleach was left to process in the hair? And was it done once or were there two passes of bleach?
@uglyducklinglosangeles76344 жыл бұрын
Hi Ashley we processed the bleach around 30 minutes, maybe slightly longer because the hair was super long. And we did keep re-applying wherever to was drying out or not lifting enough. We used 30 Vol on lengths, 2- vol on the regrowth area and for second applications to the lengths. This was natural hair level 4/5 and we got it up to level 9. Please feel free to message our site directly via the contact us and send us a picture of your hair currently and we would be happy to advise

@@uglyducklinglosangeles7634 Thank you so much for replying with these details. I went ahead and did a second pass of bleach and followed up with the toner and purple shampoo. I was able to use this process to reach a level 8 after starting at level 3-4 virgin hair and am much happier with the current result. I know results can vary and perhaps my hair is just tougher to lift than others. I'll update my original comment to reflect my satisfaction! :)

You such wonderful work and you have great talent. Will you help me as I'm confused. When James shows the hair and telling us to check it and if it's not at the right Pale Yellow Lift, to re-apply. I've never re-applied Bleach all over. Was the 1st Bleach washed off, Purple Shampooed. With the hair wet, I can go over it again using a fresh bowl of Bleach? Washed and Purple Shampooed again. Then another fresh bowl of lighter at 20 Vol for the Roots? I really want my work to look better applying your wisdom? Just confused as I've never witnessed this. It's a WOW factor for sure. ❤
@uglyducklinglosangeles76344 жыл бұрын
Yes the bleach was washed off, then purple shampooed. Yes, you can do a second application on wet hair, towel dried. Always 20 Vol for the roots, and do it separately as we did when the hair is very long....you get better control that way. Good luck with your bleaching & tell us how it goes!

Wow! I went to a salon to get my hair to a light blonde. It was super patchy and my hair was left gummy and parts of it just broke off when they were done. I tried everything. I eventually gave up and recently cut my hair super short. What I would have done to get my hair to this.

@uglyduckling -- when do you start the processing time clock ? After finished applying to whole head, or when beginning to apply to whole head? Also, this video did not show using a processing (shower) cap -- but that is a requirement, right? Otherwise hair doesn't lift well in my experience.
@MoNehNeh172 жыл бұрын
after the whole head.. you shoikd be moving quickly to ensure even results as possible. But as someone with thick long curly hair, if you dont have multiple hands on like in the video, i would suggest working in sections either bottom half first then front/too half, or if its ALOT of hair then quadrants. Bleach stops working after a certain amount of time anyway so the difference from the parts you apply first and the last shouldnt be different or too noticeable at least. If you have really dark hair you might end up bleaching for 45-1hr so the bleach from the start will most likely have died out by then anyways.

Of course it can be done in one sitting but it depends on the products used. Use professional colours and you will achieve professional results. I stopped going to the salon years ago because I'd end up paying for something I didn't ask for. I've done my own hair for years with beautiful results and minimal damage. With research and learning anything is possible.

One bleach process but we used a lot! You do have to keep smothering and applying, checking as you go that it is lifting and not drying out.
@alexarsenal19905 жыл бұрын
Should have been done in slices in foils and a cap to incubate the hair so it lifts better, that bleach proberly dried out very quick big 9 creme lightener is better with olaplex if it needed lifting anymore to a level 10 you should have wet bleached it with powder bleach after, then toned in the bowl and use a repair or colour shampoo and condition after, purple shampoo makes the hair dry and weak it’s not good at the end of this service

So you only did one process with bleach and got that lighter? How long did you leave the bleach on her hair?
@uglyducklinglosangeles76345 жыл бұрын
Yes Irina, one process but it was long thick hair and we went through a lot of bleach! As we said in the video we re-applied in areas where it was drying out. The hair was very very long as you can see, so just applying took a long time even with 2 stylists. I would say around 40 minutes, using both 30 Vol and 20 Vol depending on the say it was going. Not all bleaches would give the same result. We used our house bleach Ugly Duckling Brilliant Blonde which has been developed for dark bases and lifts really fast & cleanly. Our new Bond Protect Brilliant Blondexx bleach also achieves a very good lift.... So it does depend on application technique and also product used.
@destinnaidu89795 жыл бұрын
The pre-lightened hair hadn't quite reached the pale yellow stage. Had that been done, then the toner would have totally eradicated the yellow undertones, and would have lasted more washes, retaining the pale pastel colour. It's a major colour change, on long thick hair, so overall, I think it's a good job. At a later stage, once the hair has had some deep conditioning treatments, it can be lightened up to pale yellow, then toner applied again. Although the colour looks a bit uneven here and there, it could also be caused by artificial light in the salon. It's actually not an easy job to photograph hair, either video, or still shots. The lighting and angles have to be spot on to really show it at it's best.

It was a luck that the bleach took that colour out without making the hair crispy ... the hair must of been untouched with no colour for a good few months .. It's an amazing job ....

Okay my thoughts , if the hair is very dark there needs to be foils to help incubate , her ends weren’t at a level 9 at all it was a lv8/lv7 it was so orangey I would have been horrified , the 30 needed to be followed by a 20 vol all over and definitely be using olaplex , the toner with a 20 vol is ridiculous a Demi permanent colour needs 10 vol or less I mix matrix colour sync with 5 vol her toner was looking muddy and had very yellow pieces it hadn’t been lifted enough , there is a reason yk people why stylists say not in one appointment cause otherwise it comes out brassy n not clean like this

other tutorials i’ve seen have showed stylists starting the toner application on the roots first, ends last (so opposite of bleach). Do you know what difference this makes?
@uglyducklinglosangeles76344 жыл бұрын
In general with long hair it is better not to apply anything on the roots first, as it will process faster there due to the heat of the scalp. The only exception would be if for some reason the root was darker ( less well lifted) than the ends.
