How To: BMW E46 M3 CPV Install

Is your e46 M3 leaking oil and does it look like it’s coming from the bell housing? It might be your CPV.
captured video loosening and removing the cpv as well as a the install. It’s not a difficult repair, the key is getting a good angle while holding the extension with your left hand.

Thank you for watching! I now know why very few videos show the cpv as it’s incredibly difficult to place a camera in there. It was satisfying when I heard it break lose. Thanks for sharing this video. Others talked about changing it but nothing shows it better than seeing it on a video. Btw the manufacturer says to replace all of the bolts that you took off the reinforcement plate and torque them back to spec. They are not cheap and will add to cost of this job.

Thanks for watching. It was easier than I thought. I think a lot people make it sound harder than it is. If I were to redo it I would have bought the correct socket. Other than that, not bad. 3/8 socket wrench, 10” extension, and the socket. You got this!!!

I couldn't get my my fat hands and forearms thru the headers to the CPV.... I was pissed I had to pay a shop to do it.
