How To: Bravo 1 shift cable adjustment

In this video I'll show you how a bravo shift cable adjustment is made. When replacing the lower shift cable on your sterndrive bravo, equipped boat, it is important to adjust it so that you are able to shift fully into forward and reverse. If it is not adjusted correctly, there could be a lag when you shift into forward or reverse. Or worse, it may not fully engage and wear the cone clutch for either direction! This requires an inexpensive tool I purchased off ebay for around $8.

I gotta start my engine to get my bravo one into gear . Waiting for the tool to come so I can adjust mine. It's definitely not going all the way into reverse......thanks for the video!

You don't want to shift a bravo without it running. Also, once you get the base adjustment down, you can move the barrel adjuster back and forth to get just the right amount of movement at the shifter.

Any chance you can give me a caliper reading on the special tool from center of barrel to the center of the first notch ? Then center of barrel to center of hole and center of barrel to center of far notch . Im waiting for my special tool to come but i would like to be out on the water today . Washington summer is preciously short . Any help would be greatly appreciated !!! Thanks !

your are not doing that right the pin that you are moving is for reverse only ! also you shouldn't shift a bravo unit with out it running as it hard on the cables.
