Thanks OMP, I am 69 and returning to golf after 40 years. My handicap is 24 and I have 4 x 90's in my recent handicap scores. I can play well for nine holes then blowout on the next 9. I will try next time to adopt your sensible thinking style and hopefully stay in bounds and bust through the 90 wall. Regards from New Zealand

OMP, thanks for your willingness to share your knowledge. Liam, my request would be to have OMP do a series. You could continue this current one: How to break 80, 70. Then a short game, which would include bunkers. Maybe a video on trouble shots: playing from a divot, behind a tree, fairway bunker, etc. There is such a wealth of knowledge in this great man's 70+ years that needs to be archived for the generations to come. While I'm still short of 60 and hit it a long way, what I need to learn from OMP is when to play safe/smart. My tendency is to go for the pin every time. My short game is pretty good and I don't waste too many. However, knowing what red and a green light situations are is crucial to good golf. Liam, I think you've got your work cut out for you. Go for it!

I love OMP. I played for years, through high school and could never hit a ball more than 230 yards on a wet course. He makes me realize that all of the years that I was beating balls around looking for 10 more miles an hour, I was doing the wrong thing, and I could just relax and hit the ball and it goes whatever it goes, and I can improve my quality of contact instead and learn to control the ball and choose safe routes. My daughter is getting to golf age, and I've just bought her a set of clubs. And as a fun ruse, rather than get out my clubs that got mothballed three years ago, I've bought a vintage little used set of sam snead woods and blades. Can't wait.

Without a doubt probably the best golf tutorial video I've ever seen. I play off 18 and my game was heading towards me going to 15-16 but I've hit a real bad patch where I'm not hitting the ball well and I mentally refuse to take the driver out of my bag as I'm a total friend of the trees off the tee. I'm now going to take every bit of advice OMP has given us in this video and see how I get on. I love this channel Liam keep up the amazing work.

This vlog is superb in its simplicity. OMP has mastered the skill of harnessing what he DOES have as opposed to worrying about what he doesn't have (i.e. long distance on his tee and fairway shots). There are a lot of seniors who would benefit hugely from watching this.

Having watched and listened to OMP on-going, I've been trying a new course strategy at my home course and have broken 80 twice now! On some holes I've gone down to the 3 wood and for some approach shots I've laid up; It takes all the pressure off your game as you're not trying to hit the impossible shot(s) all the time. Hence, I'm more consistent. This video will help me reduce my handicap further - I've already gone from 12 to 10 this season. Many thanks to you and Pat

A big fan of OMP and as a coffin dodger my self I put into practice his tips in our Monday $5 Stableford comp with 7 of my mates. Result 40 points and cleaned up ,it is so obvious why didn't we think of it earlier.LOL😎 When I was in the UK I had a Stix 1 iron and because I didn't know how difficult they are to hit I loved it, now looking after getting a Big Bertha 1 or 2 iron as it will be useful for wayward shots on our tree lined furways as you call them. Love the Channel👍 Best regards Harry

Big fan of both the channel and OMP! Used this tutorial to try and break 80. Took all the danger out of the holes, layed up on some longer par fours, 3 putted 4 times because of long lag putts, easy bogies. Scored a 81! If two of the 3 putts were eliminated I would have had a 79. I left my ego tied up at home and my golf was great. I play to a 15 handicap and hit my driver 220yds. I am a 62 year old gentleman. I will now proceed to kill my ego for good! Great videos lads. Steve from Thunder Bay , Ontario Canada

What a golfer. I love this guys mentality about the game. And his way is perfect to gaining confidence around the course and taking control of your score. I’m a 6”1 350lb 40 year old who thinks he has the power and finesse of tiger woods. Maybe 1 shot out of 1000 that’s true. But the other 999 shots end up grass cutters or just big sods of earth torn up. And if I make contact I’m hitting it so hard that the direction is a complete guess. I’m deffo going to be trying this technique. And concentrate on my chip and running and my 2 putting. I’m completely gob smacked that I’ve never had a thought like this before.

Watching this video again, months later. Pat is a stone cold player, that I bet beats a lot of members at his club. And they would be left very confused after the round as to how! He’s actually figured out a very consistent ball strike, chipping and putting technique. Hard to argue against what he is capable of doing at his age and puts a lot of us to shame. Pretty sure that with less ego, we could all benefit.

Great video. The toughest lesson for me over the years has been to dial it down and play it safe and smart. Too often, in my wayward youth, I tried to muscle my way around the course with 300 yd drives and 250 yd approach shots. I inevitably ended up in serious trouble, frustrated and angry. That's no way to play golf. By taking OMP's approach to breaking 90--thinking ahead, taking the danger out of the equation, and hitting confidently what you know--it lowers your score instantly and makes the game much more fun. And then, once you have that confidence and have mastered course management, can you start to play tougher shots, and take a few more risks. "The trees are full of big hitters"--no kidding! Thanks!

Play to your strengths, not your pride!!! Who da man? Who da man? OMP, OMP, he IS the man. Listen kids, you may think you know everything, OMP has already done it. Not once, not twice, but more times than you can count. Been there, done that started with him?😁 I used to play a six iron on a par three, elevated tee, when my buddy hit a five iron, BUT, because I was bigger and swung harder, I refused to try a five iron. Well, I finally realized, to many years later, I could not hit a six iron 180 yards if I was hitting across a frozen lake. Lesson learned. Thank you again Liam, and OMP, Mr. Barlow, Liam's dad, and the rest of the crew. Great stuff. 😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁

A putting tutorial would be fantastic Liam and general short play, for me that’s where a game is won or lost. Thanks again 👍

Wise lessons from OMP! I'm 67 playing from a 9 handicap, have been playing for some 60 years, but as I'm getting older I find that I constantly have to adjust my swing as some parts of my body (and my brain....) temporarily cease to function, to put it mildly. I was wondering how much OMP's swing has changed over the 70+ years he has been playing, how he has dealt with that and what he concentrates on in his swing today?
@pgadrmer15 жыл бұрын
Liam and OMP...OUTSTANDING video. Why..beause golf is in your brain. I just played the other day and there is a hole that is a big left to right hole with huge trees all the way down the right side. The fairway pitches right to left with big trees all the way down the left. The hole is not long so as a 6/7 hdcp I need to work a 3 iron left to right to get it down the fairway leaving me a wedge in. The problem is that if I don't cut it and it goes straight or left I am through the fairway or in the trees left. (Doggers, snakes, crocs, monkeys). If I hit anything less then that 3 iron I am looking at a 160 yard or more blind shot to a green that slopes back to front and right to left but I also have a stance that is above me feet and uphill. So I screw up and hit the trees right trying to cut it too much and it threw me out and to the right of the trees away from the fairway. I looked up and saw a wide opening to the right of the trees so I played up behind the trees and parallel to the fairway which ended up to be shorter. I hit a 65 degree for my third and made the putt. Easy par from the trees. Point being I tried to do too much off the tee but played smart the rest of the way and made my par. Sometimes you need to take a hole that you know and rethink how you approach it no matter what score you are trying to play to. Please keep them coming...thoroughly enjoy watching. Smashed the LIKE button!!!

I'm 59 and played golf for 45 years, with a couple of breaks. I got down to 7 handicap but for the last few years I've gradually drifted to 11. Then the last 9 months happened, from hitting 81-84 like a metronome, I couldn't break 90 to save my life. Watched this video on Friday, played today(Sunday) at Berrington Hall, St Helens and shot 84 by using OMP's tactics. He is now officially my hero. Go OMP!

Course management is king and taking out the obvious hazards around the course is key to making a decent score at any level. Putting is a game within a game and a few more tips from OMP on the art of putting would be very useful. Ahhh and I kind of like that “circle of friendship” phrase too 😂🏌️⛳️.
