I still don't know why your channel is so underrated, your channel information is so relatable to my own UX Carrier build-up.

Hi Kevin. I've searched and searched for UX research courses or articles at most. I'm transitioning from customer experience to user experience. Going through Your channel is helping with clarity. I just want to binge. Great job. I'd ask questions as I watch. Well done

Ok so I literally watched all your videos last night. Thank you for being so open and helpful. I have an Associates in Anthropology and really want to get into the UXR world, but I had no idea which route to go. Your videos are so informative and I def want to start creating a portfolio, but I'm not sure which route I should take for school. Any ideas? All the terms and methodologies that you have mentioned are def Anthropologically derived. It's crazy how UX researcher is not heavily emphasised in Anthropology. We learn about ethnography, surveying, and must do multiple research designs in our cooperatives.
@zerotoux5 жыл бұрын
Thank you! If you're still in school an internship is the best way to get your foot in the door. As for a portfolio, you could showcase some anthro projects, but I also encourage you to find some UX problem and design a research plan to solve it! I'm working on a series of videos to create a UX project from start to finish, stay tuned :)

There are definitely many anthropologists that have done great things in UX research. There is a whole related conference named EPIC--Ethnographic Praxis in Industry Community and people like Genevieve Bell (formerly at Intel) and Alexandra Mack are among superstars. University of North Texas has an applied anthropology program at masters level but their undergraduates can also take their design anthropology class.
@angelnewball56155 жыл бұрын
@@mcmusgro Thank you for the information! I'll def look into the program at the University of North Texas especially since I'm in Austin.

What is the difference between a UX designer and UX researcher? I am coming from an hr/recruiting background. Which would provide best leeway for me to transition into a UX role?

I feel as though I get mixed signals out there whether someone without a degree at all has a chance. Do you think someone without a degree of any kind can still get an interview at the end of the day?
@zerotoux2 жыл бұрын
If you don't have a Bachelor's, it's really difficult to be taken seriously as a UX Research candidate IF you don't have industry experience. BUT not impossible. One of my masterclass grads did it without a degree. But she had been working in industry for more than a decade. So she got experience as a project manager, corporate trainer, and weaved herself into a UX apprenticeship program through lots of hustle and networking. She's now a UX apprentice at her company. I also had an alum with a dance/acting background. She worked as a front desk admin, but volunteered with her UX team. Eventually one opportunity led to another and now she's a UXR at Meta/Facebook. So yes, it can be done. I hope those anecdotes can inspire you to do the same.
