Hi TJ, Thank you ;-). Now back to reviews again. The research for those How To videos is so time consuming and difficult that I need a break now. Although... I am waiting on some shoes for the waterproof and breathable shoe video.... Yes, Still small but growing. Cheers, Gijs

Excellent. I have been looking for ways to approximate my clothing performance at home without having to send it to a lab. I don't need exact numbers; just ballpark. No need to compare my results with other sources. Inverted cup looks like an easy way to measure MVTR, as least for fabrics that are water resistant. I see that you have done a similar vid for measuring water resistance. 1) Is there a way to modify the inverted cup test for fabrics that are not water resistant? You mentioned a variation including a PTFE membrane: Would that do the job? How does that variation work? 2) Have you done anything similar for air permeability? That would complete the picture.

Hi Bill, Thank you for kind words. Your questions. I hope you understand that I am not sharing everything I do. Next to my KZbin channel I do give lectures and workshops (or is that the same?) about these topics and even there I don't tell everything. It's got to do with how I do make some money. Don't hesitate to send me an email with your details and I'll see what I am willing to share. Enjoy the Outdoors and Stay Safe! Cheers, Gijs

@@OutdoorguruGearReviews USA. Retired engineer, lifelong backpacker. Love my OR Ferrosi soft shell. Looking for a windshirt with similar breathability, but not sure that such a thing exists. Curious about air permeability and MVTR of my Columbia Silver Ridge Light PFG shirt. It's a sun shirt, but I find that it does break the wind slightly when worn over a light base layer. It isn't a windshirt, although I do use it as one (in mild weather). I've recently been introduced to fabric tech by some excellent articles at BackpackingLight, and have been fascinated by the science. It was great to find another person who knows a lot about the fabric tech (you). No professional affiliations. Just incurably curious.

Hi G, Great job again! Question: do you know which method Fjällräven uses for their eco-shell? Thanks! :)

Can only be the Inverted Cup since it is rated at 26000 g/m²/24h. But.... I tried to find it on the FR website and I could not find how they test it. FR is not open on everything.

@@OutdoorguruGearReviews Ya, I know the specs, but can't find an official methodology from Fj. The Keb Eco-Shell has been amazing regardless. :) One of the best shells I've ever owned.. :)
