Best thing I ever did was start a tank like this, this video is maybe 2 weeks old to me and boy have these little guys grow ,there are zebra pinto little blue things loads of normal tigers hahahaha I LOVE SHRIMP !!😍

Normaly about 4-5 weeks ,with cherry shrimp its much sooner like 2-3 weeks

Its barley, it helps keep algae down and its a place for biofilm and fungus to grow the shrimp eat it too :)

Great video. I'm getting blue black and red neocaradina culls from a friend who mixed the 3 in a tank and they interbred and made wild types. My goal is to let them all breed and whenever a nice color one pops out I'll separate them by color and hopefully start the strains back up. How doable is this. Am I on the right track? Thanks!

oh yeah for sure it can be done, I have a real lack of space here but I want to try a skittles type tank with lots of different colors and see what happens :)

My professor, an accomplishment aquarist tried that. A lot of the different color variations genes are on different locations of the chromosome so when they inter breed many wild types are formed I think at least a quarter to half will come out wild. That's for neocaradina atleast I'd assume Caradina is similar

Hi Mark, me again ...... lol. I recently purchased "tiger shrimp" i got excited at the thought of crossing with my CRS/CRB. How ever on doing some research they may not be the usual tiger shrimp but in fact might be caridina maraei. Do you know much about these shrimp and can't they be crossed or am i wasting time waiting for berries? Many thanks. David Below is a link to a video (in polish) but its the same shrimp.

Hello David Your shrimp will still crossbreed so dont worry about that, the naming differences you see are always just a slight difference in the shrimp in the way that it looks like marking etc and where they are found e.g I could go out tomorrow and find a small river with with a shrimp like a tiger shrimp that has a solid black band on it and then I can call it Caridina whatever I like, alot of the differences are very subtle and can change from stream to stream.

Sir Mark I have off topic question but please reply. I have a heavily planted tank having Taiwan Bees. My GH is 5. KH 0-1, TDS 140-150 Temperature is 72-74 usually. No Amonia or no3 or no2. I use Distilled water reminilized with Sl Aqua blue wizard. However my pH is 7 and it is not going down. Will my Taiwan Bees breed in such pH? They haven't breed yet and I have them now for like two months. In your experience will they breed in 7 PH.

They might breed but there is a reason we use active soil with shrimp because they breed more on it, what soil are you using ?

Marks Shrimp Tanks thanks a lot for the reply. I have ADA Amazonia but the tank had normal tap water for like four months when I had cherry shrimps only. I heard that tap watsr decrease and then diminish the buffering capacity of soil. I don't have any rocks. Have two drift woods but still pH increase which is very strange. Sir do you have any experience of breeding in 7 PH?

The males are pretty easy to grade when they are small but the females can really brighten up us the get older.
