I've liked the effect of not doing anything special so the character is more on the level of a dry hop rather than overwhelming.

Very well presented information 👍 interesting to see the results not sure the flavour profile it brings are what i always want dominating the beers i make but definitely interesting!

I've got a thiolised NEIPA on keg brewed using mash hops, phantasm in the WP and tropicale. I've found it really hard to put my finger on the flavours and aromas it's putting out... A bit too much going on with other hops muddling it all up, but there's definitely a wine/grape thang with a bunch of overripe tropical fruit and some blackcurrant too. Your vid has helped me work that out, cheers Tricky!

It is really difficult to describe that flavour contribution! Thanks for confirming some of the descriptions I ended up with and glad the video was helpful 🍻👍🏻

A very interesting video indeed! I have tried the Tropicale and found that it really enhaced tre fruity/winey parts. Did that without doing any mash hopping or so but it still lifted the fruityness. Looking forward to your ideas about a "scaling it down" video! 🙂🍻

Thanks Thomas! Yeah from the information available online it looks like most beers will naturally have a significant amount of bound thiols to exploit without going to any extra effort to add them so I am not surprised you still noticed a difference and it’s interesting that you also noticed a winey/grape character. Cheers 🍻

I have tried all of the thiolized yeasts along with products like incognito, phantasm and techniques like mash hopping and have come to the conclusion that it’s not for me. Even the commercial beers that I have tried using those products and techniques are a no go for me. The flavors and aromas are funky and petrol-y. It was fun to mess around with but it’s a no for me.

I totally get that, thiols definitely add a funkiness that not everyone will care for (not really sure I do yet?!), I do like my results with incognito though and will definitely continue to use that for certain beers

My experience of thiols is that it just smells like boiler onions

No I haven't experimented .. but what about hop tea..? Thios vs hop tea. Late addition & dry hop.. I'm a bad man😅 believe somebody is trying to sell me something 😂😂 Anyway, I enjoy your videos ... The experimentation is endless. Told the wife the other day I'd have to live 3 life times to do all I wanted to do concerning beer..🇺🇸🍻🇺🇸 I mean, beer brewing has been around for thousands of years, we still haven't got it right... Or have we??😁

Haha yeah the possibilities are endless! Even worse when you add making videos into the mix…
