Nice setup. May I make some suggestions? 1. Use a pipe cap on the end of the black pipe to give some assurance the bow won't easily pop off the pipe. 2. I use a buckled velcro strap, some use one of those heavy rubber wristbands, around the pipe and over the grip to keep the bow from falling. 3. I would really recommend using a piece of paracord as a safety loop around that S-hook of the scale. S-hook should actually be in the D-Loop, with the safety cord around the bowstring and S-hook. Saves you from a disastrous dry-fire if the hook slips or d-loop breaks. 4. Boat winch is fast, but a worm drive is precise. Just an option. Thanks for sharing the build - really helpful to the DIY archer!

Nice board. On mine I drilled a hole for the pipe to go through the wood and the base plate attaches underneath. Just a little extra insurance from it breaking away from the wood and protects the bow from dings on the mounting plate. Worm drive winch also makes finer adjustments but that’s just nitpicking now. Haha. Good job!

There is a third option for securely mounting that draw board to the work bench but also easily removeable. Drill pilot holes and install some steel threaded inserts (aka T-nuts) for wood holes. You drill holes to match your bench in your board and bolt it together with bolts. To move the draw board simply remove the bolts anchored into the steel threaded inserts (T-nuts). Easy and looks very professional and clean. You can also do something similar with your bow press like a Last Chance EZ Green or Ultimate. Nobody wants to have that big old rig permanently mounted to your workbench hogging up all the available workspace for other projects and work. You remove and install it when you need to use it. You can store the bow press or this draw board elsewhere and keep the workspace area free and clutter free.

Hey there! Thanks for the great ideas! I actually just moved and am building a new studio/bow and reloading workbench, so I think I'll use this method. Really appreciate the suggestion and thanks for watching!

Did you notice the bow wanting to rotate some when you were drawing it back? I built a draw board exactly like yours and the top cam on my bow wants to rotate towards the winch
@BackwoodsPursuit
@BackwoodsPursuit 5 ай бұрын
Hey there! Yeah, the same happened on mine, so I just hold the bow until it gets to full draw, then it is balanced. Thanks for watching!

I’m wondering why you don’t hook the d loop when you draw back?
@BackwoodsPursuit
@BackwoodsPursuit 7 ай бұрын
Hey there! You certainly can, but I just prefer to use the string (unless I'm checking draw length) as an extra safety measure since the string is much less likely to break than the D-Loop. Thanks for watching!

How do you let the bow down after getting It to full draw? Do you just put your hand on the string and try to slow down the release?
@BackwoodsPursuit
@BackwoodsPursuit Жыл бұрын
Hey Jack! It's pretty easy...just let the hand crank down by going in reverse and the hand crank makes it easy! Thanks for watching!

What type of tape did you put on the bottom of the board to protect the bench or table? (I had trouble hearing what you said during that part of the video.)
@BackwoodsPursuit

Hey there! Sorry about that! It is non-slip rug tape(one sided). I think I just got mine at Home Depot or Lowes, but I believe I put a link in the description of I remember right. Thanks for watching!

How is the release of the winch. Would it spin if not held carefully?
@BackwoodsPursuit
@BackwoodsPursuit 2 жыл бұрын
Hey Jason! The winch has a mechanism that prevents it from releasing, so you have to disengage the mechanism to let the bow down. Thanks for watching!

Did you offset the peg and the winch? Or are they in-line with eachother?
@BackwoodsPursuit
@BackwoodsPursuit 3 жыл бұрын
Great question! I left them inline with each other. Not sure if it would make a huge difference as it's just a 2x6, so there isn't a ton of room to play with there. Thanks for watching!

Hi, thanks for the video, other than checking draw weight and tuning of the bow, what else is this draw board useful for?
@BackwoodsPursuit
@BackwoodsPursuit 2 жыл бұрын
Hey there! I use it for check cam timing (really essential for that), check actual draw length (not all bows are what they say they are), draw weight, and rest timing (if you have a fall away rest that needs timed). It just allows you to do all those things much more precisely and easily. Thanks for watching!

Why are you mounting ruler at 1.75 off?
@BackwoodsPursuit
@BackwoodsPursuit Жыл бұрын
Hey there Tony! The 1.75in is to account for where the grip contacts the post. Your draw length is measured from the deepest part of the grip + 1.75 incjes per the AMO standard, so I made surw to mount the flange far enough away from the end to leave that much space to mount the tape measure. Hope that helps!
