In this segment of the pizza oven build, I will show you how I build the landing for my pizza oven. I will also show you how to build a brick arch for wood storage, and a decorative arch for the Pizza oven face. I also build a chimney in preparation for a stainless steel flue.

Great series, with a question. When you initially cut your fire brick in half why didn’t you just cut the brick in half at the angle you needed and flip one over for the circle? What am I missing??

Hello. Great job and nice result 👍 good luck, your oven is just perfecto 🤌 and thanks for your videos. I’ve two questions, (answers didn’t find in videos or on your website). 1) what did you use for dome - fire clay or refractory cement? 2) what proportion was cement and sand for the rendering mortar? And cement was ordinary cement, not fire clay, am I right? Thanks and God bless you !

I am looking to build something very similar, on your website you stated that it was 250 bricks to build the dome... do those 250 bricks also include the floor of the oven? (The layer of bricks you put over the vermiculite). Thanks for the tons of information I got from your videos!

I wish i had mason skills... just to fix my woodshop floor... why is it heavy equals $$$ lol... so once your finished will you have to thermo cycle the oven to make sure the mortar is fully hardened?

I've watched quite a lot of these "how to make a pizza oven" videos now. I've got too say this is the first time I've actually thought this might be pushing my skill level a bit too much lol. This is easily the best one I've seen, you've got some seriously genuine talent there. I don't suppose you could pop over to the UK and knock one of these up in my garden could you 😁

Great work!! But I noticed one thing I mentioned before. It looks like that if you use a door and use the door stop as designed here in the video you'll notice it looks like that if you close the door tight to the firebrick indentation the vent seems like it is outside the door/oven instead of on the inside of the oven venting the oven? Am I missing something here? I'd like to know because I am in part 3 of the build right now and I don't want to mess up. Thanks!

The chimney is only one way. Smoke goes up. The door is used as a damper and to keep in retained heat.

The only thing I'd have concern about is the transition to your chimney. I'd have recommended using the refractory cement for the firebrick used along the transition as the regular mortar will degrade over time from the products of combustion. Also, I didn't see you directly measure the opening for your chimney but the rectangular area appeared around 4"×8" and your chimney pipe looked to be about an 8" round. The area of Thales smaller rectangular opening would reduce the venting capacity and its more equivalent to a 6" round in area. I'm curious to know if this ended up drafting well in continued use or of you experienced any smoke staining on the facing of your oven.

your oven has the appearance of being a little tall. What is the finished height and how do you feel about it now? these are really great videos. I think Im going to go mostly your way. Thanks
@ArtisanMade
@ArtisanMade 3 жыл бұрын
Thank You! My oven is 3 inches too high. Originally I had planned on using 2 inch fiber board under the oven floor. I ended up changing the plan last second, and to get the same amount of insulation, I had to use 5 inches of vermiculite concrete. In my opinion, the perfect height for the oven is when you are holding the pizza peel flat on the oven floor and the arm holding it is bent at a perfect 90 degree angle. When you have to raise your elbow or shoulder to move your pizza, it is too high.

Round ovens preform better thermally, but honestly, unless you are a restaurant, I think a vault style oven (rectangle) will cook well too, and it would be a lot easier to build

I don’t have the part number because I bought it locally. I haven’t installed the flue yet because I’m building a roof over it this summer. Will probably be using a 6 foot long flue. The longer it is the better it will pull your smoke upward
