How to Build a 2.5inch Cinewhoop FPV Drone in 60 seconds
Here's my latest short build guide on how to build a small 4S 2.5inch cinewhoop made for indoor & close quarter flying and FPV Fly-throughs. This drone can fly for around 3-5 mins and can carry a naked GoPro.
This build comes with the DJI O3 air unit for maximum video range and penetration.
The parts list is as follows:
Frame: Hurricane 2.5inch
FC: HAKRC F411 20A AIO
VTX: DJI O3
Motors: Foxeer Datura 1404 4533kv
Receiver: Happymodel ELRS EP 1 RX
Optimum lipo size is a 550-850mah 4S pack.

Best to best to apply the water proofing after you do your soldering. Or at least add another quick coat once youre done since access can be a pain once its all assembled. That way you have a protective coating on all exposed metal surfaces including your solder joints. Also important because your iron is hot enough to burn away the coating even withough direct contact so parts that are near solder joints will also be unprotected.

200 bucks at least for the air unit. I would recommend analog if you want to start with budget version. If you already have goggles then get the DJI air unit obviously.

@@bentoogoodi think i read somewhere that 4s should be paired w motors in the 2300-2700 kv range, what’s the reasoning for going so high? and would there be any risk of motors overheating or failing at such high kv w 4s?

@@zenandtheartofskateboarding it all depends on the size of the motor. There’s no set kv for certain voltages, it ranges depending on stator size. For a small 1404 or similar, 3000-4500kv is suitable for 4s

@@bentoogood damn i’m running 1404s on 4s w 2750 kv, didn’t realize i could go up that high. higher kv trades more power for slightly less flight time right? or do i have that backwards? still super new to this and its kinda complicated but lots of fun learning all these little details

@@zenandtheartofskateboarding Increasing kv gives you more power and thrust. On a small cinewhoop you're not really gonna notice any efficiency losses as they don't fly very long anyway

It could, but it wouldn’t fly very well. That’s too heavy. A 6s 2.5 inch could rip with a full sized GoPro though, but it’s a bit too heavy tbh. A 3 inch is what you need for a full sized

Why do you use a GoPro on top of having the DJI O3 Camera. It can record high quality video as well right? Is the quality of the GoPro so much better?

Yes the O3 can indeed. A GoPro 11/12 has a slight edge in terms of resolution offering 5K compared to 4K but in terms of colour the O3 and GP are pretty identical. So depending on whether I need to keep the drone sub250g with a larger battery, I’ll either run just the O3 or with a naked GoPro too

If you’re using the O3 as the Receiver, you need the DJI RC2 remote. But I highly recommend using a separate system like ELRS or crossfire

@@lashasharashidze5158 because if you lose video signal, which is likely during a fly through or typical cinewhoop flight, then your quad also failsafes. Just in general too, you want your controller to outlast video feed. So if you lose video you can throttle up/disarm and avoid going straight to stage 2 failsafe. Which is much worse

Why isn't the capacitor preinstalled on the circuit board?

Because it’s a small board and depending on the voltage you supply to it, it doesn’t necessarily need the cap

Where are you finding FCs with onboard caps? Is that actually a thing?

@@JoshDisher There aren't any that I know of. You don't normally install a cap onto an FC unless needing additional filtering. I know you can get iFlight ESCs with preinstalled caps, although they're a bit of a pain to install onto frames as they only usually fit the iflight frames
