@kriswyche2 жыл бұрын
I’m not sure what a Monterey switch is? Do you mind explaining ?
@alanloeffler40362 жыл бұрын
It is a pattern switch for changing patterns on a light bar or flashers
@anonymousperson4363 Жыл бұрын
It's a switch that the circuit is closed while being pressed. A horn switch is an example of a momentary switch.

I would have liked too see you complete this by wiring in the switches too.

Nice video. Note that a "40" amp relay that only has 14 ga. wires will only pass about 15 amps. Amp capacity does not change over distance. A certain gauge will only handle so much. So a 30/40 amp relay with 14ga can only handle about 15 amps. Look to relays with screw terminals and much higher amperage ratings.
@kriswyche3 жыл бұрын
That’s a good point !! It does make lots of sense the relay rating is higher than the wire. Luckily the most the relays see are around 10-15 amps. With the highest rating possible being 20.

Can u show how to use a relay for emergency lights using a relay to make a negitive to positive
@kriswyche2 жыл бұрын
The relay simply allows you to not be forced to use bulky switches. The should have modules that flip power and create pulses to use with regular lights that will make them “emergency” lights
@rey9584 Жыл бұрын
What's the size of your relays and why do you have 2 relays for your fans?
@kriswyche Жыл бұрын
the relays are 40a. i have dual electric fans so it’s good practice to have a relay for each fan. i’ve seen people run one relay for two fans and it usually results in the relay burning up

How is connection ware from battery to fuse box and key switch thanks
@kriswyche Жыл бұрын
circuit breaker installed between battery and fuse box. key is basically just a switch and when you turn the key it closes the circuit and sends power to starter motor to turn the car over.

In a later Video you talk about using one 80 amp relay to power the ecu instead of 2 smaller relays. I’m looking to wire up my s13 sr into a 95 s14 and didn’t even consider this. Do you think the ECU will draw more amperage than a standard fuse can handle? How do you still use the ignition switch to power the fuse block? See what every pin does, feed it power and see when it comes out? Thank you
@kriswyche3 жыл бұрын
it’s getting multiple power sources and the ecu has its own mini fuse strip. So basically the 80amp relay feeds a separate fuse strip, from there each ecu wire has a dedicated fuse. The ecu relay also gets power directly from the battery and is protected with a circuit breaker.
@kriswyche3 жыл бұрын
As for the ignition barrel where the key is. I just used a multi-meter to find out what wire gets power when I full turn the key. It’s basically just used as a switch now the provide power to the starter solenoid which cranks the car. I can pull the key out while driving and nothing will happen. It’s sole purpose is to crank the starter. The ecu, fuel, and everything in the car is controlled via the switch panel !

I have an E5 but I believe it’s similar. Do I really have to wire all of these? I’m counting 13 wires just to power the ECU? Why do we need 5 ignition signals? Why 2 and a backup I’d understand 1 power 1 backup. Can you clear this up? And if you have an E5 ecu show me what wires you needed/ran to the ECU from the dash end? 34 O start signal

@@kriswyche does a switch on the panel give power to the whole panel? Or is that also from the key? Are you using the 8 gang panel? If so, that’s crazy bang for buck at 30 and change
@kriswyche3 жыл бұрын
@@hectordelgado3258 it’s really complicated tbh, I’d have to find where I wrote stuff down and get back to you. I have a 62 ecu and I believe one or two wires are different. BTW, I did lots of wiring tracing, most of the wires split into more within the harness, so it’s like you power one wire and it splits into 4 different pins. I currently only have 3 wires that are getting powered if I recall for the ecu

How do I wire the switches to turn on fuel pump and so on? I'm at the point where you show the panel done. Now switches?
@kriswyche2 жыл бұрын
You supply power to the switch panel by connecting a wire to the main fuse strip and running it to the switches. The switches power the relays, so when you hit a switch it powers the relay and then the power goes to the fuel pump. Rewatch the last part and I explain how the power flows. I’m making a playlist now with all my wiring videos, give that a watch and you’ll have a better understanding. Also you can dm me on Instagram and I can send more pictures and help!!

This is a good video ...but maybe I missed the most important part. How do you wire this up
@kriswyche3 жыл бұрын
That part is a bit more complicated. I do have a video talking about it somewhat that I’ve linked below. Basically everything I needed to power I made a little harness for with power and ground. I also spent a good amount of time studying the wiring diagrams from the factory service manual. kzbin.info/www/bejne/o6vaYaiXhaegg8k

@kriswyche2 ай бұрын
@@jameerchavis6135 you will have to use the ignition barrel and have “ACC ON” and “ON” and “START” control the relays. Not a hard job but a bit more complicated and you don’t get as much control over each circuit
