I wasn't happy with the way the power cables from the circuit breaker to the starter solenoid and starter solenoid to the fuse box turned out. so I ordered some more flexible cable and I will be redoing those two sections of cable.

I’ve watched like a dozen videos about doing this, at least. Yours? Seriously? The very best one I’ve seen so far. Great simple explanations and clean smart install with the routing wires underneath and using simple and widely available solid and affordable parts and 12” solenoid leads instead of those short 6”ers. No measuring, but still turned out pretty good and clean. Appreciate it!

Have you connected this up yet? Not sure the fuse block and relays are setup right. The ground from the relay should not go to the fuse box. You need to have the power from your battery going to the fuse panel, then feeds the relays. The grounds need to go to a ground terminal block or something. The relay should be; 30 - power from fuse panel 87 - load out to terminal strip 85 - typically ground 86 - power to the relay coil for the switch Maybe I missed it in the video.

Also, looks like your starter solenoid is being bypassed? It's definitely not feeding the panel, your panel is essentially off the breaker - which is fine I think, depending on your goals. Thanks for the content!

this particular fuse box has a ground and a positive post.. to my understanding power to the positive post feeds the relays and grounding the ground post on the fuse box grounds the relays... power from the battery is going through the circuit breaker to the starter solenoid.. then from that same post on the starter solenoid to the fuse box.. I’m pretty sure it’s good to go.. but then again I’m no electrician lol we’ll find out shortly

@@JovanMichaels My bad bro! ... I assumed I knew how the fusebox worked, so used to seeing the power in --> power out boxes ... Makes more sense now to me lol... I'm on like, version 4 of my custom fusebox ..... so I'm hardly speaking from any real electrical expertise either lol. Sub'd and will monitor your progress! My project is a '76 VW Westfalia, so hardly a racecar lol... yours looks like it'll be a screamer!

I use to solder a lot of my car wiring, I got away from it since it technically creates a nasty break point, and usually chars wires around it, can't control where the solder wicks, and there is a chance if that wire overheats the solder lets go. For battery type lugs heavy gauge wire I use a 10 ton crimper, there are others as well that are easier to use maybe mine is overkill. I also switch to U Shape Open barrel crimps for most of my connectors. I have probably close to $500 in crimping pliers now. Great work.

One suggestion for your next panel is to not use the color insulated terminals. Get the bare ones and shrink wrap them instead.

Well thought through and properly put together circuits, BUT you refer to use of starter solenoid to power up fuse block. Starter solenoids supply intermittent, rather than continuous power necessary to keep your cars relayed switch systems operating.. You either need to use continuous duty 12v. 100 amp solenoid, or if you are using the cars starter solenoid, as power distribution point, fuse the fuse block, after the solenoid stud. Starting the engine, with a fused battery to starter solenoid cable may be aggravating.. Good luck Dave

The through holes in the ABS need bushings. This is a race car and those edges will be sharp. They were not even reamed. Also, there probably should’ve been more room between the fuse block and the relay banks/terminal blocks.

I am doing one of these for my race car. It does not currently have a fuse box or any wiring. I am wondering how are you powering the switch itself? I understand that once the trigger is flipped, it will send power to trigger the relay, relay will trigger whatever it controls... Power to the switch (s)? By the way your panel looks awesome and just what I need. I am not an electrician or anything, so help me with some insider info.

i have one 10ga wire coming off of the same side of the solenoid that the battery cable is on.. that wire has a fusible link on the end .. and then i also put a inline fuse just to be safe. so that wire provides the power to the switch panel. Hope that helps

I think the way you connected the solenoid doesn’t correlate to your description. As of right now the solenoid while still being on the circuit, it doesn’t do anything on it since the wire to the fuse box is on the same pole as the cable coming from the breaker. If this is intended and you just want the solenoid there to later on connect the starter, that’s find. If you want the solenoid to control the fuse box, you would need to connect it on the other pole as well as connecting a switch to the smaller pole of the solenoid.

Looks good but wiring definitely wrong the panel was a good idea but your fuse box either needs to be ground to ground if your ground switching or power to power for most accessories and everything else your about to blow your box

the starter cable goes to the other stud on the solenoid… when you turn key power jumps over and cranks over the starter.
