Yes, you were tired. 45 Ah in that 50+ volt series string. But the Watt hours will be over 2,000. When you get the 4 packs in a 6S4P configuration you will have 180 Ah at 16 volts and the same over 2,000 Wh. I love it.

Great video, thank you! I am building this and was brainstorming a removeable option if one cell starts to go bad. Would it be possible to create some sort of epoxy mold first utilizing a release agent for the 6 cell assembly the same way people fiberglass or make carbon fiber parts and then be able to insert the cells as an assembly into the mold making them removeable yet still impact resistant?

48:00 Oscillating Multi tool is what we call it in the construction industry. Very handy, as you demonstrated. Good idea. Could try heating up the plastic with heat gun or maybe torch outside without breathing fumes and then easily cut with tin snips, scissors, or box knife maybe. Maybe score the edges and snap off with pliers. Just throwing out some ideas if someone wants to try.

theres only one mfg of LTO cells and its yinglong and they were all made around 2015-2018 for a chinease gov contract to build electric busses because no auto maker wanted to use them. the only ones on the market have been salvaged out of bad packs and sent over here to a battery recycler who eventually relabels them and tries to pass them off as new.

Thanks big dog I was certain I mean certain I was going to get 4-7 diehard group 31 agm bus bar them together for a battery bank. After extensive research and coming across your videos this and your others, I'm gonna get and build a 6 cell 45ah bank I think to start. Is it better to build a large one or link multiples together when you upgrade/rebuild 🤔 should I shoot for a 12 cell 80 or 90ah to start? Couple places you can grab kits and all of the 35, 40 and 45 cells.

what would be the reason they would only last 10 years? If one bought these and correctly built a 6 cell battery and only used it mainly as your only battery meaning starting your car with I would have thought they'd be good for 25-30 years possibly at least that's how they advertise these you know how far that gets anyone lol.

The recommended cell voltage does NOT match the Oem charging voltage. You will always be in an over charge or under charge situation. That is the biggest draw back to running these daily on recommended factory voltage. There are others, but that's the top.

Great informative video. Question; who did you purchase your cells from? I belong to a few different car audio groups and everyone knows those cells are manufactured by Yinlong and have a blue covering on them. Depending who you purchase them from there's a good chance you'll get screwed, miss-marked amp hour and used cells unless you buy them from a so called "authorized dealer". XS POWER just re-wraps the Yinlong cells in case you had any doubts. Side note; to add additional protection to the cables from chafing you could cover with expandable PET sleeving.

That specific sized battery or in general? Vehicles. Semi trucks, car audio builds, diesel passenger trucks, sedans, all depends on voltage and BCI. But I recommend NOT putting these under your hood bcuz lithium do NOT like very cold or very hot environments.

If anyone plans on using LTO cells with a alternator then please only use 5 cells because most alternators only go up to 14.4 volts also the cells in a PB battery, aka car battery are only 2 volts per cell
@DjR3aper
@DjR3aper Жыл бұрын
That would mean the max charge would be 13.67 volts. The 14.4v would be an overcharge.

This is being used with an alternator. This is used car audio too, and you use 6 not 5 and high output alternators are used not stock.
@Up2Trbl
@Up2Trbl 6 ай бұрын
No, you use 6 cells and run a high output alternator that charges between 15v-16v. If you for some reason don't want your car charging that high, don't run LTO, run LiFiPO4 instead.

1:11 cheaper than lead acid? Not if comparing ah to ah. How'd you mean? My 80ah xs power AGM d3400 is $350 whereas my XS Titan 8 PWR S6 3400 is only 10-30ah for $800 and my XS 45ah Yinglong cells are roughly $600 so I'm curious to know if you were comparing CCA or AHs or so on. Thanks for the informative videos. I have great test ideas that will earn you 100K views your first year per video if interested. Unfortunately I don't have the necessary test bench.

You'll understand once you have to replace your fix voltage led acid battery about 2 or 3 years from now and then the light will come on and you'll understand oh he was talking about how these batteries last decades not years so therefore they're way cheaper and they have a much better recharge rate..... no one can argue to me about let acid anything anymore I'm over it

Just my opinion it's nice what you have done but I personally have had a bad experience with loctite with the previous owner doing this. please do not use it. You dont need it. When the balancer fails and you have to take off the nuts You'll have a hard time getting them off and will snap the thread on the cell. All you need is flange nuts torqued down just a bit more than hand tight. Don't want anyone to go through what I did.

@@shotguntalkshow5032 The reason this is dangerous is simple lithium batteries that become over charged or depleated to near zero will catch fire. try to out out a lithium fire sometime, it makes its own oxygen and requires a special fire extinguisher to put out the fire. Not to mention the Hydrogen fluoride gas that will KILL YOU in a most painful way. Just google Tesla fires, and see for yourself.

@@BoxBuilderIdaho Not trying to be an ass, But you did ask...... So I'll answer your question. Running ANY lithium battery WITHOUT a BMS is pretty retarded. Now to be fair; yes, LTO chemistry is much more tolerant to high charge/discharge rates than the other chemistries (except maybe LiFePO4, but that's a toss-up). But "tolerant" does not mean immune to the issues that arise out of building packs as you did here. Specifically- the cells are NOT going to charge evenly OR discharge evenly. Thats a BIG problem!!!!! You didn't measure the internal resistance in the cells and pair them accordingly. So, you have 6 cells in series that you want to pull significant amperage through. What happens when one (or more) cells have slightly higher OR lower internal resistance??? (remember internal resistance changes over the life of the cell) Yep either the cell has 0% workload OR that cell is working like a Hebrew slave........... Same goes for charging! Without a BMS some cells will over charge or undercharge (depending on their internal resistance). (Setting aside for a moment the other protections that a BMS provides like cell cut-off, over volt, under volt, high temp, low temp ECT ECT) What you built was honestly a bomb. No exaggeration, No lie. It brings me no pleasure to say that, but it's nevertheless true. As an example of what happens when LTO cells reach their limit without a proper BMS system - kzbin.info/www/bejne/bpmXYqNnaMpnirc In this Vid you will see everything you need to in the first 45 seconds (unless you think EUC's are cool, then watch the whole vid LOL). On the King Song S20 prototype there was NO BMS, and you can see what happened. Additionally at the 46:46 mark you sort of stuck your foot in your mouth. There is no such thing as drop in lead acid cells........ Those cases are designed to hold 6x 3.2v 50ah PRISMATIC LiFePO4 cells - www.lifepo4battery-factory.com/product/3-2v-50ah-lifepo4-cell/ (or similar cell) Just an FYI. In closing, I'm sorry, I'm not calling you retarded. I'm saying what you built IS! It is a bomb! It will burn at some point. And the fuse length just depends on time and how hard they are used. And I'm rather sad to see someone as accomplished as you apparently are know so little about lithium battery safety. 73's and 88's

2 things for everyone: 1. It's cool BBI is trying to build something no one else has yet. (Makes me wonder if MAYBE there's a reason why no one is building similar permanent cases, like what do they know that we don't) 2. Yinlong cells unfortunately go bad, ESPECIALLY when used without a digital balancer allowing you to watch over them. Chances are you WILL need to replace a cell at some point. Maybe in 3 months or 3 years. Doing the permanent technique looks like it'll force you to scrap everything and start over therefore you might want to consider building something that can be dismantled. (Only a suggestion to consider, I'm not implying which method is best) Companies I'm aware of who sell Yinlong cases (some come empty and some include the cells): LAF (Loud As Fck) CES (Cleveland Electric Service I think), DroppinHertz (who have a lot ofl products but poor untrustworthy customer service was my repetitive experience unfortunately), and other companies. Or go this DIYCentral route but maybe not make it permanent. I'm in the middle of designing and building my own. I'll post what I came up with on my YT channel so feel free to Subscribe so you can check back in a month after you Sub & LIKE this BBI's video 👍🏻 tinyurl.com/Car-Audio-Fanatics-SPL-Addicts
