Removed a section in my camper where the entertainment area is and installed. Works great. Instead of propane furnace heat, I can use this kzbin.infoUgkxATHBlMJwipGgVWseuAFKvDQ_5R4_lywo to heat the camper as long as it's hooked up to shore power. Only thing I do not like is there does not seem to be a thermostat. I'm presuming it has a built-in one so it does not overheat. Really like all the other color options it has to offer.

Hi, I’m looking to do this on a stud wall, is it as simple making the base structure and attaching the angle joints from base structure into the wooden studs? How would I make sure the vertical wood above the fireplace is sturdy if these do not run parallel to stud work? Would a horizontal piece of wood (screwed into the studs) on the back to both vertical pieces of wood help create this sturdiness and take the weight off the fireplace? Any help would be most appreciated thank you !
@MrandMrsDIY
@MrandMrsDIY 4 ай бұрын
Yes as long as they are structurally sound and screwed into a frame as well as the floor and ceiling you should be okay. But I would consult with a local carpenter/joiner beforehand though just to make sure everything you're doing is structurally sound and safe! Cheers

Interesting video with some great ideas. Watching you using the stud locator makes it easy to find the ceiling joists, but your ceiling joists run at 90 degrees to your frame, what if the joists run parallel to the frame and there is no joist to fix into directly above the frame?
@MrandMrsDIY
@MrandMrsDIY Жыл бұрын
Yes this can sometimes be the case, then you'd need to use very good strong plaster board fixing drilled and installed into the ceiling then the Fram can be screwed to them.

Good job. I don't know if this has been asked before but, my only concern is if for some reason the fire develops a fault who pays for the deconstruction of the fire place.
@MrandMrsDIY
@MrandMrsDIY 2 жыл бұрын
Good question, well the good news is that if there ever was a fault with the electric fire then all 3 section of glass from the front and both sides can be removed very quickly and easily, then all working parts of the fire can be removed and replaced without disrupting the fire place, in fairness there isn't really much that can go wrong with them, we've had our tow fire in our house for over 3 years now and all working perfect. Bespoke Fires fires all come with a warranty and they have a department that offer servicing to all units.

I’m about to build our media wall - similar layout to yours - however our living space is open plan & has vaulted ceiling so will only be going around 2.40m in height. We currently have 3 sets of double sockets at normal height & the TV is wall mounted currently along with HDMI cable - so sockets will need moving up into the TV recess. Electrician has suggested I build frame first then he does first fix electrics - does that sound reasonable? I will then plasterboard and get it skimmed then second fix electrics (we’re incorporating downlighters into recesses on either side of fire/TV).

Is there no heating barrier between the fire and the tv? If you put a dvd or your sky Q box where does that go and is there an access hatch? What about the PS4 I don’t see without an access hatch how you can achieve this. Also what if 55” TVs become obsolete and you’ve got to step down to 50 there’s no room to step up with re framing
@MrandMrsDIY
@MrandMrsDIY 2 жыл бұрын
These kind of fires don't need a heat barrier between the fire and TV, the heat is blown away from the TV above, Other gaps could be cut and fitted to allow for other items like DVD etc,

The fire and frame ive built is 1420mm width (12:31) I notice you have put more timber on the inside of the frame to accomodate the the 55 inch tv i assume- so when it comes to my 48 inch TV- I am assuming I will need To attach more wood internally to the frame to accomodate my TV and to fix the MDF too? (making sure of 12mm mdf top and bottom) Probably an obvious question/answer but I thought id ask anyway Hope that makes sense?

You can ether but it up to the wall and scribe the shape of the wall if its out, or if its just a very small gap I apply flexible paintable filler from a tube and gun, @3Csealants do a great filler perfect for this.

This is next on my to build list. Does anyone know the pros and cons between using mdf and plasterboard? I was hoping to have an electric log burner at the foot of ours. Would that make a difference on the decision of mdf or plasterboard?
@MrandMrsDIY
@MrandMrsDIY 2 жыл бұрын
Bespoke fires don't require any fire regs materials around them MDF is fine to use, as for the log burner I'm not sure about them as ive not used one, but if in doubt please use fire retardant plasterboards.

Hi Craig, thanks for the video, all useful information. I’m about to build our media wall and clad it in mdf like you did. You mention 15mm mdf but I’m only seeing 12 or 18mm at my local suppliers, will 12mm be ok? Also, did you scrim the mdf where the joins meet before filling?

Building this currently and new to DIY. What do you find the best way to cut the mdf so it’s straight and also what did you do for the edging where the 2 boards meet in the corners at the front so that it’s flush when painting. I know with plaster board they use angle beading. Thanks

Yes a Plug saw with a guard will help you cut strait lines in your MDF, glue the corner and screws fix together and then when there dry sand them down so there smooth, fill any gaps, sand again once dry and you're ready to paint.

This makes it look easy, but most chimney breasts aren't square neither are the ceilings, the fire usually sticks out far more. In a perfect world everything would be square but it isn't unless it's a fake wall. But at the end of the day all this frame is is something to screw the plasterboard onto so you could make it out of anything.
