I love the simplicity of this. I'm going to use this for the spare room in our Airbnb. One word of advice though...I didn't see you using safety glasses during your construction, drilling, cutting, etc. This video was from three years ago, and so hopefully you're using them now. Listen to the voice of experience when I say that all it takes is a split second for a power tool to throw something straight into your eye and you lose the eye. PLEASE wear safety glasses when you use power tools of any kind! Great job with the bed, too!!! Thanks for sharing this.

Hey , great build, im about to buy the plans but i have a few questions. (Twin size bed) - can i make the depth of the desk a bit smaller? 16 to 18 instead of 20? - how much could it cost me to make the twin murphy bed? ( i live in canada) - also how much time to make the twin bed? - if you can , can you make a video on how to make it since im more visual and the twin is different than the one in this video. Thank you for everything
@TheHowtoDad Жыл бұрын
the twin will be very similar to build. all the parts are the same, just some are smaller. changing the depth of the desk causes some cascading issues. changing the depth, changes the balance point. best to leave the depth alone. you could make a radius cut into the center of the desk to give you more space. feel free to reach out on the website if you want to discuss further.

Hi, I just downloaded the plans for this awesome bed. I have two questions, 1. Can I build it with MDF instead of 1/2 Ply? I'm going to paint it all anyway. 2. Can I extend one end of the bed to provide some degree of a headboard that prevents pillows from falling off? I estimate that I can make it almost 16 inches tall, and would have to curve the ends so that it didn't hit the wall.
@TheHowtoDad3 жыл бұрын
Hey Mark, thanks for the support! The plywood is important for the structure of the bed, and it MUCH lighter than MDF. for these 2 reasons, you should not use MDF. You can make the headboard, but you will need to taper the outside corner to allow the bed to fold up. I'm excited to see what you come up with! Feel free to contact me through the website with any further questions.
