How to Build a Planter Box - Easy DIY Project

How to Build a Scrap Wood Raised Planter Box or Garden Bed with Legs. Suffering from a bad back can be a painful experience when working out in the garden which is why having a raised planter box or garden bed is such a great idea! Making the planter box mobile is also an added advantage as you can move it around to escape the scorching sun or howling wind. Building the planter box out of the right materials is also an important factor to consider. I’m using reclaimed hardwood fence palings for this raised garden bed which has a couple of benefits. It’s durable so it’s suitable for outside use, it’s food safe and because it has been salvaged…..it won’t cost you a single cent! Scrap wood projects like this planter box are also beneficial in that you are using materials that would otherwise have been thrown out or burnt so it’s a good feeling to know that you are also doing your little bit to save the planet. Look up wicking beds, it's a whole new universe of growing stuff with out constantly watering, better than keeping your masking tape in zip lock bags. My wife made heaps of those wicking pots out of just about anything with her students at special school. They work a treat.

Cup of tea?! I'm a Pom, don't ruin the illusion of 4x/Fosters/barbie/surfing Aussies! ;-) I'm East Anglian (Norfolk), where I'm led to believe a lot of the initial "settlers" originated. Due to my similar accent, and former career as a long distance truck driver, I've often been asked which part of Australia I'm from whilst still being in the UK (accents vary a whole lot more here than in Oz)! If I had the resources, I'd emigrate down there in an eye blink. If only to visit the MCG..... This is brilliant. I've recently started making garden furniture (planters, benches, trellis etc) commercially, as much as possible out of recycled material. I'm always looking for inspiration and tips to improve my products, and this has helped no end. Cheers. Cobber (! ;-) )
