I built a similar deck for my 14 1/2 foot boat, but it's one piece. Great job, like the easy access hatches. What is good about removal decks is you can take them out, stand them up and hose of fish slime and dirt. Then leave them standing up to drain and dry in the sun. My wood is 24 years old and never had to change the wood. I did have to change the carpet once, because the first carpet had a rubber backing that started to come apart. The second carpet has been on for at least 20 years.

If I would’ve see this video earlier I wouldn’t have had to ask those questions like I did before. Great build. Love the channel. Excellent job for guys your age

Awesome for a new boat This is what I'm probably leaning towards instead of a full build. I want to be able to take everything off when in come to putting on truck rack during Moose hunting season when pulling hunting/atv trailer.

Hey, thanks for the video. I plan to use a similar deck as the basis of a tiny cabin cruiser on a 14" aluminum hull.

Great video thanks I’m going to make mine the same way 2 inch frame gives it enough support or is it 2x4 frame
@MissionForFishing3 жыл бұрын
The supports are made from 2 inch by 2 inch furring strips. They give about the same strength while being half the weight.

Nice work I liked the thought process put into this to keep it strong but low weight.

Nice job on the upgrade. Tip o the hat to you.

On the hatches did you have to trim it down so it would fit after you installed the carpet
@MissionForFishing3 жыл бұрын
Yes, when I added some decking to the back of the boat last summer I didn't take enough off so they close a little rough. The front hatches made in this video were trimmed about 1/4" on all sides which seem to be about perfect.

Pro tip. Use cardboard as Template cut out a lot of the measuring and guesswork.

What kind of plywood did you use like what tree or processes did It go through?
@MissionForFishing4 жыл бұрын
We just used some generic 1/2'' plywood from menards and furring strips as reinforcements.

Completely agree! It really comes in handy when the boats loaded up with people too or you need to clean it out.

Use treated plywood!!
@faintingX3 жыл бұрын
treated plywood is not good for aluminium boats. It reacts with the aluminum and deteriotes.
@tylerlennon32143 жыл бұрын
@@faintingX I’ve had treated wood on my aluminum boat for 4 years and it’s still completely fine.
