This should be mandatory watching for all new players - I still see so many 2x2s done badly. What I really like about this video is the little survival hints and tips that you explain through the build. As a solo player with 1800 hours, I still build the Mini Frustrator sometimes (I have one right now, it's one of 3 bases). I find that experienced raiders will recognise it instantly, and know that there is no easy way in. Once they see the key lock on the front door, they can't be bothered since they know a) that I'm solo and b) exactly how many rockets they will need, and that it's likely not worth it (it isn't, if I've got boom then I use it raiding 2x2s built by people who haven't watched this video, haha!)
@EvilWurst
@EvilWurst 4 жыл бұрын
Interesting to read that according to your experience, raiders tend to avoid the Mini Frustrator. In case you made substantial upgrades to it, I'd be delighted to see a few screenshots. Feel free to join my Discord (link in description) and send them to me via pm.

Hey, safety tip for the roof, if you put the inner 4 halfwalls so one squere nas either 2 rough or 2 soft walls (not including the outsine walls). This makes it much more resistent, if raider first uses C4 or satchels to get through the roof hoping to soft-side the rest. This way he will never get all 4 without aditional explosives

Easy decision to sub. I think a lot of people are looking for these designs for easy raids, but there's so much stuff you can modify just a little bit to make it harder to identify. Really good open floorplan and storage management, and I love seeing a build that uses lockers. I feel like they're really underappreciated.

It only seems basic because you are so familiar. To someone first entering the game without any foreknowledge from guides, tutorials, or another player, they may not think about the need for it. If they primairly play on pve servers for example or at least low pop servers it may not have ever been an issue.

Yo! Just wanted to let you know that your box placement in tc room isn’t space efficient for the most loot. In a 1x1 with a tc, the max boxes you are able to place is 5 large crates and 3 small crates. How you can do this is by first having the tc rotation changed to the back of tc being up against the loot room wall. You then copy the top half of your box placement design and change the bottom half. You place one large crate horizontally against the back wall and 2 large crates on the left and right facing vertically, you are then left with a gap between the 2 large crates which you had just placed. That gap is able to perfectly fit 2 small crates facing vertically. To access the tc and large crate at the back is very simple, you simply just crouch and they are easily accessible. Your bottom half of your loot room also isn’t space efficient because you are actually able to fit 2 large crates 2 barbecues and 4 small crates. To do this have the large crates in the same place where you have placed them and where the 2 small crates are next to the large boxes you can replace them with 2 barbecues facing vertically and 2 small crates beneath them. You can then place 2 small crates in between the 2 large boxes or you can do it how you did it with another barbecue and a small crate beneath it, just depends on whether your willing to spend an extra 40 metal fragments for a barbecue. Keep in mind this is no hate Evil Wurst! I’m just trying to improve with your loot storage ❤️ I absolutely love your content and keep it up 👍

I love this design! I use it all the time, the one thing that I do change is I flip the side the 2 front doors are on as I found that door campers can see deep into your base when they’re both open, this happened to me and switching the sides remedied this. A brilliant and helpful video as always

We used this design and made it through the wipe. What do you advice to extend it ? Especially to have a 360 view from roof on our surroundings. Just build on it or build a separate "watchtower". Thank you for answering Thank you for your guides, we started rust during the confinement and your guides are very helpful.

Happy to hear that this base got you through the wipe. I can only repeat my warning that this base is a starter. For a main base, it is too weak for how juicy it appears to raiders. I like this video even though I do not like 2x2s :-) What I like especially is the fact that you managed to put in some Basic survival strategy for none PVP chads. To whoever reads this and is new to the game: The advice given at around 8:08 is solid. Evil and I played like this for several hundred hours and it always served us well. If you're not BChillz or Trausi 2.0 you have considerably better chances of succeeding on wipeday if you follow this advice. And even if you are a PVP chad it still helps.

Cool idea! Thought I'd throw out an alternate strategy for those interested. You could also place of the loot rooms on 2 of the 3 honey comb triangles at a trade off of security. If they raid you from the roof or doors, you're better off and they still have to blow in. If you do this method, I'd recommend doing it on the honey comb on the right side of the base, with the loot rooms on the left side (this way you can prevent splash damage). You could also add a "secret loot room" INSIDE one of the loot rooms so that you have to pick up a large box to access. Odds are, they'll find it, but you can still add a double door of protection and make it +4 rockets 66% of the time on side raids. If they raid you from the correct side (33% chance if they go in by the walls, you're in a worse spot and lose a layer of honey comb plus have a door instead of a wall (-4 rockets with stone, -6 with all sheet plus another -2 rockets on the door vs. sheet wall and -4 with armored walls). That said, you can always use sheet metal to buff it up a bit. Definite tradeoff, but I like rolling the die on a the possibility of them missing the secret loot room. You could also add ANOTHER door in this room and place your TC behind a third door on a triangle.

Shotgun traps in loot rooms and the triangles in airlocks also do wonders. I used a similar design and was being raided by a solo who got shot by a trap once in the first loot room. What I've been doing recently is expanding these 2x2s into small compounds with lots of turrets. It feels like Rust base design isn't about honeycombing anymore, but rather making raiders give up with lots of traps. If you put down large batteries, and have solar panels feed into them - the raiders will think all your defenses are down if they take out the solar panels. It's incredibly frustrating when that's not the case.
@EvilWurst
@EvilWurst 4 жыл бұрын
Indeed, traps can be extremely helpful in defending from raids. On the other hand, I found them largely useless against larger more organized raids, as these usually happen through walls, and the trap placement rarely foresees where the breach will be
@oldfoolplayinggames2067
@oldfoolplayinggames2067 4 жыл бұрын
OH HO, wanna see something amazing? That 8 man raid got stopped cold by almost only traps. The story goes like this: A cocky streamer felt like he and his group were dominating the server. So he announced who he was, told ppl to streamsnipe him and that he would dominate them anyways. So that group told him to raid them and they prepared a compound full of nightmares. This video is hillarious. Footage was taken from the raiders stream. kzbin.info/www/bejne/ZpK5ppmahrGSiqs Note: neither did the defenders bag in randoms nor are they bad at PVP. This was a lesson for a cocky group.
