Finally someone on KZbin explains corosheet RC construction techniques. Thanks very much. This was a much needed video. Would it increase the rigidity if we used two layers of corosheet with the ribs at right angles to reach other?

Rather than glue two layers, its better to use a sheet of higher thickness. Yes the ribs will increase rigitidity to a certain extent ,but the issue with corosheet is it wont stick very well when the it is glued against its thickness.because of its hollow nature

Excellent vid and thank you for your efforts in making it. My son and I are about to build a 1.2m high wing trainer out of coroplast (called Corflute here in Australia). My question is whether it makes a big difference to make the box fuselage with horizontal or vertical lines in your opinion. We had planned to run the grain along the fuse and add numerous internal cross-sections for structural rigidity. My logic was that the fuse would likely be far less prone to flex in this configuration. Your wisdom on the matter will be much appreciated! Many thanks - Dave

I have tried both orientations in the fuselage structure, but the one where the lines were vertical was best, it gave the best rigidity while the orientation running parallel was very weak and flimsy. With the vertical you avoid the need to provide large number of reinforcements and thereby reduce weight.

Look for corrugated polypropylene, which is what correx is. It is often sold as floor protector. In the UK you can get 2mm thick from B&Q under the name Antinox

By the way, corrugated plastic sheet use to built RC aircraft was taught by a Brittish hobbyist. The aircraft is call Mugi. The way to get a good airfoil is to bend against the flute and not along it. This method , the longitudinal strength is however, compromise but this can be overcome with a strong hollow carbon spar spread along the wings. The airfoil shape is more important then longitude strength. I have built dozen of flying wing using the " Mugi " aircraft bending technique. Some of my aircraft is capable of going at blistering speed and last for years with some horrific crashes. Corrugated plastic sheet are one tough cookies.

I built rc planes and boats only using coro 2mm. It's my favourite. If we use some little Technics it's more easy to build rc plane and boats etc. Anyway nice video

If you know how to build them with the right techniques they will come out as good as a foamboard airplane and will be way more durable at the expense of a little more weight
