Hey Shadow, I wanted to say thanks :) for doing your thing. While I must admit there are others you are one of the You tubers I learned from and now currently setting up my relay satellite web to the moon and other body system to prepare for drone and manned flights to the moon. I was able to make lighter efficient 2 and 3 stage lifters XD as compared to my 6 stage lifter. Happy I've finally graduated from ... darn i'm barely in orbit to space here we come :). Relay satellites are equipped with 4 ion and tiny rocket engines to assist getting from around the body if necessary. (wanted to go fast XD) Kerbin orbiting satellites are equipped with one ion and a large RCS thruster in case of de-orbit or extend to between moon and Kerbin. (If anyone was interested) Stacking smaller engines makes much more of a difference than i expected to using larger ones. Tip to anyone trying to get past just orbiting, sometimes smaller is better but more thrusters still works. Then you can just action group them to toggle and use less fuel.
@kspencerian
@kspencerian 4 жыл бұрын
The space history nerd in me has to call you out. Starliner uses only hydrazine thrusters for orbital maneuvering. The four motors below were for launch abort only and were also only hydrazine. Four Puff engines would've been better and probably have enough thrust to work for an abort. Enjoyed the video, despite my nits.

1:01 It's not really human hubris it's very non-controversial fact. The only reason this problem wasn't immediately fixed was because they were in a blackout window with TIDRIS. TIDRIS blackout windows don't make the craft uncontrollable whenever the craft is manned.

One of the astronauts explained it. The RCS on starliner was on at the incorrect time and they burned to much fuel because of it. The result was had they attempted to go to the ISS they may have ended up way to low on fuel. She specifically said RCS which made total sense.

Terrence Anderson Yeah, I found it strange that they used the RCS thrusters for their maneuver rather than the OMS thrusters that were supposed to fire. I wonder if they had some unexpected issues also related to the clock sync and what we will hear about in the future.

@sebidotorg
@sebidotorg 4 жыл бұрын
I used to do that. I even used the mod that did it for me. But since in reality, nearly all the rockets rotate after liftoff, I switched to doing it inflight. For unmanned vehicles, RemoteTech’s flight computer does it for me after a simple click on “custom” (which I then click again after changing the pitch to 88, to slowly begin to pitch downrange), and for crewed vehicles, I do it manually.

@@mattfarrar5472 They will bring it home because they have fuel to get back, but not to reach ISS. They will test the rest and looks that the docking wasn't even necessary to qualify the thing for human crew. They plan to bring it back Sunday, about 12:30 UTC. The thing is working, transmitting and so on. Is not a wast of money, just an partial failure. If you want's to see an waste of money, research about the Brazilian Rocket Program: a partnership with Ukrainian, several billions of dollars... never launched or saw the light of day beyond the drawing board. We also had the 2003 Alcantara disaster: about 20 people vaporized by the rocket inside the construction building... for nothing.
