I built up a lot of discipline this year, and what helped me the most was approaching it like a gym-bro workout routine, since it's a brain muscle like you said. Started off with 1 day a week for 30 minutes (working out). Then I 'progressively overloaded' my way up to 2 days a week, and etc. I now exercise at least a little bit every single day. Now that my discipline muscle is formed, I can stack habits to my routine really easily! I was always befuddled seeing people that could just do things I would find impossible, but with taking baby steps like this, I've seen exponential growth. The healthy habits accumulate on their own at this point! I really like this video - you did a wonderful job of simplifying habit-forming! :)

could you give an example of what your 30 min mind “exercise/workout” would look like?
@CodenameKimNextDoor2 ай бұрын
@@LiannaWang-ne9bk Sure! I got some adjustable dumbbells online and I forced myself to strength train 30 minutes once a week. And it sucked. I would literally rather do anything else. But thinking that working out so little "sucks" meant my discipline-muscles were weak. The mind exercise is doing something mildly uncomfortable (but necessary) and working your way up to high discomfort. When your brain is strong, it adapts so you don't feel uncomfortable anymore after some time. To hype myself up for the travesty of exercising, I made my new year's resolution list a wallpaper on my computer so I would see it every single day. I also listen to music while working out and pretend to be a music curator and find new songs. Or sometimes I'll put on a show/KZbin vids. Another habit I stacked was flossing consistently. I got cute tin containers and a bunch of floss picks. I keep a tin in every single room and I got the floss picks because regular floss is uncomfortable on my fingers. A discipline workout could look something like this: -Floss once a day right after dinner while I'm still watching TV 7 days for 3 weeks. -After flossing is locked in, take a 10 minute walk right before dinner 2 days per week for 3 weeks. -etc... The discipline workout isn't necessarily for my teeth or health, I base it on comfort level and training my brain to grow up lol. Discipline does not come naturally to me at all, but practicing it has helped me be less miserable with doing what I'm supposed to do.

Two years ago, I managed to lose 35 kg in a year, and for the first time in my life, I was truly proud of myself for achieving my life goal. People admired my discipline, and I was able to help them with their weight loss as well. However, over the past few months, I’ve regained 20 kg, and every day feels like a struggle. I hope that 2025 will be a better year for me, and I will finally overcome my eating disorders and return to the weight where I felt like the real me. Keep your fingers crossed for me. Thank you for your video ❤

Hi Faye. Can you do a video for other new healthcare workers into how to get used to managing a big case load and being OK with not getting everything done that needs doing in a day. I hadn't realised how much being able to cross things off my to do list was such a big part of my personality but sometimes a very busy day means you don't have that sense of completion with your day. I'd love to hear your thoughts on it and I'm sure lots of other healtcare workers would too x

When I'm done with studying I don't have time or energy to do much more things in my day, like workout. So it there any tips to how I can control my time in a better way, and do more things in my day?

Do you take medication to manage your ADHD? I was always apprehensive to try medication because I’d heard it doesn’t work for everyone and there’s a chance of developing addictions or other side effects. But I am really struggling now that I started working. Some days my brain is so deep in dreamland, I don’t even realise it to be able to do anything about it.
@caitlinmoore8740Ай бұрын
I take Elvanse for my ADHD and whilst it doesn't solve everything, it makes it that little bit easier for me to break out of task paralysis and do the things I want to do. I don't have any trouble with addiction on it, I frequently forget to take it so definitely not addicted. Side effects wise, my heart rate sometimes goes a bit high if I don't eat a big enough breakfast before taking it and I lose my appetite during the day but that's it. Medication won't be right for everyone but I'd say it's worth trying if you're open to it 😊
