Yes you are absolutely right, building your dexterity and endurance is the very first lesson in playing bass. I've been playing bass since 1968 in night clubs and on stage. One day I decided to play my bass for the Church playing only Gospel music for the rest of my life. I asked the Lord, "if you want me to play Gospel music only then give me a song" in 1980 the Lord gave me and a Piano friend (Ricky Grundy) RIP a Gospel song and we named it "Call him up" (Can't Stop Praising His Name Jesus). God allowed my Bassline with a little bit of funk in Church to wake them up from falling to sleep in a dead Church. I wanted to bring a different style of Gospel music to be heard all over the world though the Holy Ghost within that 1980 recording that is still getting air play after 44 yrs. Thank you Jesus. Gospel music rules..

@@indiefriendly4450 Thank you @indie friendly4450, I guess it's a classic by now only because the Holy Ghost is within the song in other words we had a divine visitation from God while we were in the mist of recording.

Jermaine if my church has a 5 string bass and i practice everyday and I'm more comfortable with a 4 string bass should I make use of my 4 strings or the church's 5 strings ??
@JermaineMorganBass
@JermaineMorganBass 2 ай бұрын
I would do both… You’re more comfortable on your 4 string simply because it’s familiar…If you become more familiar with the 5 then it will open up more options for you.
