Best bass lesson I have watched💥
@joaniepeters25657 ай бұрын
That’s one thing I naturally started doing after a while, using octaves and fifths to drive and develop bass lines. And recently I started mapping out my bass lines, and it’s like a template.. I won’t play the licks or “feels” the same exact way probably 80 percent of the time live because I’ve noticed it depends on what the drummer is doing and the other instruments at that exact moment so I’ll hear that rhythm and may play a totally different lick pattern or transitional phrase than what I was practicing at home with the tracks or the original recording. But it has taken my playing to another level where when I look up at these gigs, I see a good bit of people watching me in the crowd kinda seeing what I’m playing and anticipating what I’m going to play next to glue the parts together or a cool part or lick forwards the end of the song or before/during the climax. And one thing I’ve noticed that really gets the crowd going is when I reharmonize 1 or 2 chords during the climax of the song or the last phrase of the second verse.. also too if I play a lick and land on a bass chord on the very last note or if I turn the very last note of the lick into a chord

Jermaine thank you so much for this. I’m 50 and have played bass for 35 something years But I never learned much more than sticking to the root note. I just picked up the bass, because everyone in youth group wanted to play guitar. I said I’d play bass. But this is so helpful to make my bass playing more interesting.

Thanks Jermaine, great video. Really good advice to apply to practice during the week. This will help me to be more intentional with the song basics. Then add flair and feels with octaves/fifths and leads-ins. Can’t wait to dive in to your other material. May God continue to bless your efforts.

What gig bags do you use for your Warrior 6-string Bass
@JermaineMorganBass Жыл бұрын
When I had my six ring, Warrior, I used Igig cases. I don’t think they are still selling cases. A few years ago, I changed to reunion blues, gig bags.

Thank you for this Jermaine… but I have a question how do get more creative cuz I feel like I play the same licks and riffs but I try as much as possible to tweak them and having different variations through modes and pentatonic scales. I think it’s also cuz I use only those two aspects. What’s your advice on this

Thank you brother I enjoy your style of teaching I just recently found your channel on KZbin and subscribe I recently re-dedicated my life to the ministry and serving Jesus Christ I used to play bass in my earlier years, but never mastered it only picked on it here in there My church recently lost their bass player🙏🏾 and now we are in search for a new bass player. My name came up,so the choir director reached out to me asking if I could play bass for them Sunday, without thinking about it I said yes and then realized I haven’t play my bass in years😮 He sent me three songs that I have to learn by ear Their is so much going on in this songs and it’s hard for me to login on just the main notes can you help? if you can help me break down the notes on a song that will help me make it through Sunday. Moving forward by Israel Houghton ,Mighty God by Smokie Norful the live version and i’ve got favor by new direction anything that you can do to help would be greatly greatly appreciate it👍🏾

It’s funny cause the octave fifth is probably one of the first pattern I learn when I start a year ago, but this bouncing took me a bit to apply but it’s so groovy and if you put accent on 1/3 with a bit more space it’s swinging now really cool !!
