A proxy service is like having a friend in Japan who will buy and hold stuff for you. Shipping and taxes will depend on where you live and a multitude of other factors. Try buying something small and seeing how it goes. A single $5 item will probably cost you $15 in shipping, but it's good to learn how the process works.

Hey Jake, I signed up for Buyee and preordered some Terastal Festival, but my order got cancelled since they couldn't buy it due to the product having a limit. They said "please be informed that the purchase quantity limit means that every account can only purchase a limited quantity of items. Please note that Buyee is considered a user, therefore, we cannot purchase an item with this kind of restriction to be fair to all the buyers." How did you get yours in the video? If you are buying off the pokecenter website you should order itself and use a mail forwarder instead of getting a proxy to order it on your behalf. There are no restrictions like needing a japanese phone number or bank account.

Something i feel was left off this video (or i just missed it) is the customs taxes, this is what mostly worries me, because i don't really have a clear understaning of how much i'd have to pay and if i have to pay anything at all (this is not a problem caused by Buyee, but it's still something that keeps me from buying from them)

I live in the US, but I just keep my packages under 200,000 yen and I have never ever had to pay customs

That's going to depend on where you live. I would recommend buying 1 small item and see how that goes.
