Yes, that was very helpful 😎 I have both, Starlink RV and Starlink Residential. After waiting 15 months for residential service, RV service became available in June 2022 so I purchased that service, three weeks later residential service became available, in July 2022 so I purchased that service as well. Now I have both services and my old/slow original internet service. After a month of testing both Starlink services, I was very disappointed with the RV service (at the time) and decided to suspend that account @ $135 a month and continue using the much faster and more consistent residential service @ $110 a month. You also cannot suspend service on a residential account. I decided to keep the RV system and hardware as a backup, but now I know I have a second option to sell and transfer it to someone else. @@jcristina ~ FYI, Over the past 8 months using Starlink Residential, I've also noticed gradual latency and speed improvements. The fastest speed I have seen yet was 258Mbps (download), and that speed was observed last weekend. Latency has also stabilized to a rough average of 25-45ms.

Hi,@@JoeCisneros ~ I own Critter Ranch in Southern California, in a very rural foothill area, about 12-15 miles East of the Town of Apple Valley, CA. Between the Southern edge of the Mojave Desert and about one mile North of the San Bernardino National Forest @ 3,500ft. altitude. Since this video, I have the following updates to add... My "Residential" service has increased from $110 to $120 a month, and my "RV/Roaming" service is currently in "suspend mode" and has increased from $135 - $150 a month. The good news is, my download/upload speeds have improved considerably. Latency (ping) time has also improved and been more consistent, averaging between 25-50ms. I also run 5-6 speed tests about 4-5 times a week and have been logging the results for over a year now. My average "Download" speeds average between 125 - 300Mbps, depending on the time of day and internet traffic. "Upload" speeds average between 15 - 25Mbps. *Starlink also recently adjusted my dish a few degrees from aiming due-North to aiming North/North/East. My friends along the coast in more densely populated areas have had their dishes adjusted slightly North/ North/ West. My "original" and now redundant internet service provider is a microwave signal from a neighboring town with a download speed averaging 6-8Mbps and upload speed averaging 1-2Mbps. *Starlink was certainly a "Game-Changer" for us! 🤠

A very timely video, considering I just got an e-mail about another price increase. I've had it for 1 year, since Feb 2022, last May it went to $110, and will increase again to $120 in April. It was expensive to begin with, and now I'd like to cut my losses, sell the dish, and go back to my old line-of-sight radar-based ISP.

Love your channel and especially these Starlink videos, thanks. I was struggling with how to transfer my service and this was useful but I also made an observation. Transferring Service is not an accurate description. It should be called Transferring Hardware because that is all that is guaranteed, If you are in an area that is at capacity you will not be able to transfer your "service" spot to someone else. You pointed this out but I wanted to highlight it. I can cancel my service and give my equipment to my neighbor. But when he sets up his account Starlink will only allow him to sign up for Roam because there is no residential service available. Does not matter that by cancelling I essentially opened up a slot in the area. The new owner will not see the box "i already have a Starlink" unless they sign up for Roam. So my neighbor gets my old Starlink, has to pay more for Roam (which he does not need) and will have deprioritized service.

Great info. Have you received the email about the service price increase? Below is what I received. "The monthly service price for Starlink is increasing in areas with limited capacity. As a service that can be used in any area, including those with limited capacity, the monthly service price for existing Starlink for RV customers will increase by $15 to $150/month beginning April 24, 2023. If you do not wish to continue service, you can cancel at any time on your account page. Your Starlink hardware can be returned for a full refund within 30 days of purchase, or partial refund of $250 within 12 months of purchase. Enjoyed the WIFI, but Starlink's customer service is close to worthless. Had it not been for Mr. Christina's videos I would not have figured out how to "communicate" with Starlink. The email and thumbs down method gave me access, but Starlink's responses to simple questions were ridiculous ! After 3 months I sold my "Roam" gear and transferred my serial # etc to someone else using the excellent video above... Again thank you Mr. Christina for all your videos/help ! After reading other comments below, I can see that the monthly cost will continue to rise and make it prohibitive. I don't do a lot of streaming or downloading so my phone carriers WIFI (Mint) is just fine. I also see I paid $100 more through Starlink to buy my gear, when I could have purchased through Best Buy !

Hi thank you for this, it seems that the router id can't be found in today's app or website. I can only see STARLINK ID starting with 0100... and KIT NUMBER. Could you confirm if this is happening everywhere... ? Is the STARLINK ID the new router number?

Thanks for the info. I kind of would like to have a backup in case mine fails. FYI. I think they are using a very simplified billing system were only the recurring payments are automated. I missed a payment and it took me 15 days to reconcile it. Only notification I got was for the failed payment & no service interruption or cancelation notice.

Slight correction: When canceling, you indeed don't get any refunds for the remaining time, but your service will still be active until your time runs out. So you can still continue to use it if you want/need to even after clicking the cancel button.

@@jcristina I have 4G antenna also. Have you ever heard of Insty Connect? I have one of his dual antenna units, it works really good. I was getting a 4g signal from a tower 9 miles away, and get 50megs down speeds, it would use any micro sim card

I bought a Starlink from my friend and we’ve been waiting for this update, I had all the information from his account to do the transfer myself, I did the transfer but it didn’t work. I think I went wrong when I was under the previous owners account and did the transfer, I believe I did not uncheck the box for “returning the hardware” is this fixable. I’ve messaged them on my account that I set up but I am unsure if this will be a major problem.

Can you give an example of how to write all those numbers? The example on the site only shows kit ID and terminal id. Does the serial number go in-between? Are the slashes important? Is there space? I keep writing them in all different ways and it can't find it?

I've been on the waitlist for 2 months in WA state, so what your saying is I can purchase a used Starlink unit, buy the RV plan and I should get service..... Do I need to cancel the 1st order that is on the waiting list and start a new service or keep the waiting list until residential is available then transfer the RV one over to residential.... I simply want to change the account owner on mine, the equipment and service stays where it is, it just needs a new account holder name but Starlink has told me it must be handled the same as if it were starting as a new account! My area is full, sounds to me that if I close my account when they try to re register the account under the new name they will get the dreaded no service available in your area response

I'm curious, do you know if this will work if you transfer an RV starlink to a residential starlink? Their website says that you can't SWITCH from RV to Residential, but I'm curious if transferring it would do the trick, I'm looking to move soon and it looks like starlink has open spots in the area I'm moving to but I don't want to have to buy another dish to transfer the service, I could potentially just open another account and 'transfer' it

I do t think RV to Res works. You would need to get a Residential separately or shit down the RV when you can

Great job JC, I purchased a residential system from my tenant for our place by the river. I would suggest that when the transfer doesn’t automatically go through (like ours) that both the seller and buyer open a service request to “get their attention “ and we still had to wait a few days before the transfer.

I've used Starlink in Australia it was great. Just got a brand new Starlink in France and the dish has arrived but it's not set up in my account. I can't connect. There is a page that says put your Starlink identifier but I can't get the Terminal ID (unless the new terminal id is the account id? are they the same?) because under ROUTER it says "disconnected". I messaged Starlink support 24 hours ago and no reply. So annoyed. Any advice? Anyone seen this? Also on the account identifier page you show at 14.07 can you please explain in more detail how to put the numbers, the way they have it is very confusing.

I believe the dish as the information on it allow with the back or the router. Check both places.

I have a quick question. Starlink is available in my area but all of the “spots” are taken. I have a guy selling his starlink dish in my area however that is willing to transfer his account to me. When I go to the starlink site it tells me to click that I already have the hardware, but I get stopped before I can get there to put down a 100 dollar deposit and get on the wait list. If I already have someone wanting to give me their service will this show up after I put down this deposit? Also will I get the money back for the deposit? Or will I have to wait a while or what? I’m really confused on this part, as it feels to me that if I have someone wanting to give me their satellite in the same area as me, I shouldn’t have to wait.

If there is no availability I’m your area it might require you to set up Best Effort service and then move it to residential once available. To be honest I wish I knew!! 😔

@@charleskelli He was very clear in the video. The service is not being transferred . You are just buying the equipment. It happens a lot that your neighbor has the availability but you don't. Your address doesn't have an open cell. So you have to make sure there's availability in your address first before purchasing the equipment

Do you have any idea how to combine those three numbers to make the identifier number? I just purchased a star link kit from a private party and have all three of those numbers but no matter how I combine them when I put them into that square where they go I just get invalid star link identifier and the square turns red.

I did the same, however I can still log onto my account, note that it is still cancelled, but find my Starlink ID # as well as my Kit #. As J correctly noted, the serial number has to be retrieved from the dish itself. Hats off to JCristina once again. BTW, I cancelled because fiber finally got to my neck of the NH woods and the White Pines are no longer a factor. Cheers.

I bought the first generation from someone who cancelled correctly $$ ect. He does not have the KIT# but has the device #Device ID: 2023.24.0.mr24992-prod. I can not sign up as a new user with this number. I have the router number, serial # all numbers except that KIT#. any advice?
