Thank you for this video! 10 out of 10! It provides simple, easy to follow instructions on how to connect to an Eero Mesh Network. I’ve watched many videos on how to set it up, and this is by far, the best video on how to set everything up.

Thank you for your video. May I please ask; I bought a brand new TP-Link BE800 router today, and it works fine until I put the StarLink gen 3 into bypass mode, then the TP-Link says it has no internet access. You mentioned on your page that a static address will fix this; could you please do a video to show how to enter the static details?

Thank you, the directions you provided were excellent and simple to follow. Everything went well until the end when I tried to put my gen 2 star-link router into bypass. I went to settings then click to highlight the router and then I got the message that my star-link router was unreachable. Should I go back and bypass the router prior to connecting to my EERO 7 router and then connect the EERO 7 router?

I have a generation 3 router along with the new dish. I understand everything you explained including going into bypass mode. The generation 3 router has two ethernet ports. I wanted to set up two separate Wi-Fi networks. First, I went to the starlink app and I placed the star link router into bypass mode. As you describe in the video. No problem. The I plugged ethernet port 1 from the starlink router into my wifi router one and confirmed that everything was set up correctly for network one. I performed two or three speed test and achieved 250 megabytes per second on average for each test. I went to several different websites and confirmed everything was behaving correctly. I then hooked ethernet port 2 in the Starlink router to my other Wi-Fi router. I had the router already set up correctly. I tested using internet speed test. The test results were poor. Achieving up to 80 megabytes per second but then as the test continued the megabytes per second reduced from 80 to 70 to 60 to 50 and so forth. And it could not perform any upload test. I went back to Wi-Fi router one and performed speed test. The results were very random and in fact quite a few times it told me that it had no internet access. This persisted for 30 minutes while I messed around with it to see what's going on. Finally, I disconnected Wi-Fi 2 from the star link ethernet port 2. At that point Wi-Fi router one started working properly with starlink. I was now again getting speeds in the range of 250 megabytes per second. It appears at least in my case that I cannot have two different Wi-Fi networks with one working off of one ethernet port associated with the starlink and the other working off the second port. For some reason they seem to conflict. Would you have an opportunity to test a scenario like I have described. Put the star link into bypass mode and then hook a wireless router to one ethernet port. Then add a completely different wireless router to the second starlink ethernet port. Do you have problems similar to what I ran into? I would be interested in this experiment...

This is a situation called double NAT. Since both routers are connected to the same modem, you can have weird issues like this. A lot of 3rd party routers allow you to manage multiple Wifi networks, even if one is a guest network. You might try that with just one router, instead of trying to use 2 separate routers.

@@StarlinkHardware I have tried with just one router and no problem with one router. It's trying to use the other ethernet port with a second router is when I have the problem. However, if I take router 1 and connect it to the ethernet port off of the star link generation 3 router and then take the other router and plug it into one of the lan ports on the 1st router then everything works. So that's how I have it set up right now. But I was always wondering why I couldn't use the two ethernet ports on the starlink router at the same time. And since the two Wi-Fi networks are not connected together, I'm not sure that I would have double NAT situation?
@StarlinkHardware
@StarlinkHardware 6 ай бұрын
@@johnsullivan9320 If you plug both routers into the Gen 3 router, they are connected together on the same LAN, even though the Wifi networks would be separate. The two Starlink ports are connected together, think of it like a mini switch. There is no separation, so plugging two routers into the Gen 3 router results in the Starlink modem (the dish) handling two routers on the same network.

I placed the Starlink router into bypass mode. My understanding is that eliminates all router functions. If so it's as if I had connected my two other Wi-Fi routers directly to the Starlink dish. I don't believe NAT or anything else in the Starlink router would have anything to do with my setup. I assumed that would allow me to set up two completely separate Wi-Fi networks that cannot see each other even at the Starlink router. Is that not correct?

@johnsullivan9320 I have always run 2 networks with 2 separate routers by plugging the 2nd router into a LAN port of the 1st router and back to the WAN on the 2nd. This connects the 3rd party routers in tandem with their own SSIDs. Right now, I've taken the Gen2 SL router out of the circuit and get SL's Internet directly from the dish power supply to the WAN port of the 1st router using the cable that came with the kit. So... SL dish (Flat HP) cable to power supply, then power supply directly to WAN of 3rd party router #1. One LAN port of #1 to WAN of #2. SL Gen 2 router is not wired to anything. Both 3rd party routers (networks) were set up and operating with Comcast prior to SL providing the internet. With SL, all previously connected devices, appliances, etc still function as before, albeit a little slower. 60+ devices on #1 and can still stream 2K and use the guest network also, on #2.

I have the Gen 3 Starlink and got a third-party router to resolve the IP address issue that happens in bypass mode. I set it up the configuration as shown in the video and followed the third-party's Starlink video with the specific instructions for set up, but continue to get the message that the IP address is already in use. Any ideas as to what I'm missing? I've spent 2 days on this and am running out of ideas.

would there be any reason that a non wifi router (wired only router like the TP-Link ER605 V2 Wired Gigabit VPN Router) will not work when following your instructions in this vid? This will mean no wifi signal from the gen 3 router and only ethernet connection from the TP-link router?

When you turn the starlink to bypass mode, do you have to assign the static ip 192.168.100.2 to your wan interface to point it to the starlink dish? Or it will assign an ip to the wan interface via DHCP?

Can you just turn off wifi on the Gen 3 router and still use the ethernet ports to connect your computer? Or do you still need to buy another router?
@StarlinkHardware
@StarlinkHardware 5 ай бұрын
You can't just turn off the Wifi without also turning off the routing functions, like handing out IP addresses. You would need to buy a 3rd party router where you can turn off just the Wifi radio, but it will still hand out IP addresses to devices you are plugging in to LAN.

I just ordered a Starlink Gen 3 system. It is my understanding that you go into "bypass" mode from their app, and then their modem is now just a PoE for power to the sat dish. I have a Deco (TP-Link) mesh system set up with another ISP (will cancel when I get the Starlink up and running) with 2, X-90's (1 acting as main router, the second as a satellite) and 2, X-68's acting as satellites. I have over 50 smart devices set up with this mesh system. I'd like to be able to use the same network SSID and password that I have set up currently so that I don't have to go to each smart device's app and reconnect to the Starlink ISP. How do I go about doing that? I get the physical connections and the bypass mode in Starlink app, but what do I need to do on the TP-Link app to integrate the new Starlink connection, so to speak? Thank you.

Thanks for the video! I have Gen 2. I connected a TP-Link Deco X75 router, got that network, and I can connect. However, as soon as that network became available as an option on my phone, the Starlink App under the "Network" option said "Router Unreachable". If I go to "Settings", and "Router", I don't have any options and it says my Starlink router is unreachable. I can't get to "Bypass Mode". At the moment, I have both networks available on my phone, and my home apps (doorbell, thermostats, etc) are still working and I assume connected to Starlink. The photo that comes up on my Starlink phone app shows just the dish, like you mention in the video. Thoughts? Thank you!!!

I have an old centurylink router. Would that work as an additional router? Or would I have to pay for centurylink again in order for it to work?
@StarlinkHardware
@StarlinkHardware 2 ай бұрын
It depends if it's a router, or if it's the modem and router for Centurylink. If it's just a router, you can probably use it, assuming it can be configured in access point mode. If it's a modem for Centurylink, it probably won't work.

Does this help prevent the gen3 routers from getting fried? We have a new one on the way and don't want it to die within a month like the first one did.
@StarlinkHardware
@StarlinkHardware Ай бұрын
Probably not. The Gen 3 router still acts as the POE injector for the dish, taking power from the power supply and sending it through the Starlink cable. Bypassing and using your own router doesn't change that, it just changes which router handles all the network stuff.
